The bit about volatile revenues + wages eating everything is spot on most owners aren’t buying “a club”, they’re buying status, leverage and a storytelling machine they can bolt onto their wider business interests. The big problem of a modern football club is the cost of transfer, buying and player wage has become too ridiculously expensive.
