Why We're Here: Twin Cities
Video Overview & Insights
Why, with all the possibilities that exist in the world, do we live here in the Twin Cities? In the spring and summer of 2010, we took our camera to the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul to find people willing to talk, unscripted, on film. The result, this film, is our collective love poem to the Twin Cities.
St. Paul is the better City
Filmed on location the spring and summer of 2010 in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, the film features an original score by John Munson of the New Standards, the Twilight Hours, Semisonic and Trip Shakespeare, camerawork by Adam Olson and editing by Sam Heyn.

I wonder if all these people in the video are still in the twin cities or they left to another city/state.

The cities are obviously fraternal twins.

@amethystkat8724I guess that is why the Mayor and Governor decided to burn my beautiful city down ...... it was just too.....NICE. ♥
@juliefrommes4119We came to the Twin Cities over fifty years ago and found it to be a nice place to live and work, but it was at a Guthrie performance of
"By the Skin of Our Teeth" that I knew that this was home. It has it unresolved problems-witness the death of George Floyd and the racism it revealed once again- and it has its amazing cultural richness, religious exploration, social engagement and financial resources lthat makes it a great city.
Oui c'est vrai que St Paul/Minneapolis c'est une belle région,j'avais passé des vacances là-bas et la nature autour de la ville est très belle,ça ressemble beaucoup à mon pays la France ;-)
@satpremjean9098Minneapolis is #1 in Virtue Signaling and Emotional Insecurity.

@Soup_sirVideo was great. Too many out-of-focus / in-focus / out-of-focus transitions on your B-roll footage. Once or twice would have been good, but I was struggling to make out what you wanted to show me.
@jrweaverI've lived in Duluth, MN all my life and have been thinking of moving to Minneapolis. This video has convinced me to do so. Time to get off my butt and nab an apartment! I know it's an old video but very sweet and inspiring. =)

@fuffthebucks7266why is the black guy shirtless?
@theology_matters_OmarThat woman at 2:15 is a fucking goddess
@DyslexicTurtleI live in Houston, Texas and it's okay. Some parts of the city may be ugly but that's every city. The summers are very hot but the winters are cool. Houston has a lot of diversity: from Mexican restaurants to Armenian restaurants. To me ,Houston is a great city to live in.
@karlagonzalez249I love Minneapolis it's like a secret city that many people don't know about or take for granted

@annstedman548This video definitely showcases why the Twin Cities is a fantastic place to live. #WhyMN #PowerOfVideo
@mastcomRecently read on yahoo that this area has the 4th lowest homicide rate in the U.S Looks like a very nice city to me, I've been to the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN the last 2 years, but not the city of Minneapolis itself. Are people here very friendly for the most part? I mean it seems like they are.
@bracebrooks967Moved here in summer 2013 for work. Immediately I hated the place... for about 2 days. I started getting out more and getting to know the city and became slowly enamored. Coming from NYC, I liked that it had the feel of a city without being overwhelmingly huge, dirty, crowded, etc. Sure, the nightlife is not even close to that available in NYC or other major cities but there IS a nightlife, especially in Downtown and Uptown. I was under the impression that I had my last decent meal at a good restaurant when I left NYC (until I returned on visit) but, I was very wrong. Minneapolis is not lacking by any means in the gastronomic experience. I initially made the mistake of going for super value and living in South Minneapolis; I was enticed by the fact that you could get a huge 1BR for right around 900 a month or less, which was still 60% less than the price that I paid for my studio in NYC. I know live in the North Loop and, though the rent is higher, it is still very manageable by comparison to a similarly apportioned apt in a beautiful area of NYC. A similar apt in NY in a similar area of NYC (thing SoHo or West Village) would easily go for $ 4,000 or $ 5,000 per month... I pay a little over a quarter of that. Like my name says, I will always be a NYer... but I will be a New Yorker who lives in Minneapolis.
@lcm5160In 1995 the New York Times dubbed Minneapolis "Murderapolis".
@54JHENRYI think the Twin Cities especially minneapolis are awesome, the economy is not terrible and I love the houses and other Architecture, the economy is pretty good too but every city still has work to do to make a better economy, though minneapolis has the most fortune 500 companies per capita than any other city.
Just because this city is left sided does not make it bad including the fact that the Government and business work together very well and that religon is visible here I think even Conservatives would really enjoy this place
Lived in The Twin Cities suburbs in the eighties. At that time there were a lot of huge strip malls, with either all local stores or mom and pop stores.
@felix121984I'm sick of the bullshit about how "Minneapolis is soooo dangerous." NO IT'S NOT! Just stay off the north side, and the north side is safer than average parts in cities like Los Angeles or Dallas. As for St. Paul, stay out of frogtown.
@arodgefan589I'm from the coast of Mississippi and I'm moving here next month and I find the complaints in these comments SO trivial. So you have a long and cold and "boring" winter? We have year long humidity, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, weeks of rain and weeks of no rain with lots of heat. The people here seem to be fake. Very judgemental and nosy if you aren't a born and bred white middle class native. High rates of teen pregnancy, obesity, HIV/AIDS, and poverty. Let's not forget about the notoriously shitty drivers. Alcoholism isn't a disease but a tradition considering everyone in the South likes any excuse to throw a keggar. ...so I'm looking forward to my move to the Twin Cities because even on its worse day, they will never be as bad as where I live on its best day.
@leareed1043I'm from mississippi and I'm thinking about going here
@ThugNinjaGreat place if you are left leaning politically and love crappy weather. Getting more crowded all the time.
