I often have these dreams where I am either running from something or something bad is happening, and I always somehow tell myself ‘it’s just a dream, I’ll wake up soon’ then I stop running and then I wake up escaping the chase or bad thing

Dreams Become Real
Sleeping can be so wonderful, I always dreamt about a peaceful village or a world where everything was peaceful and didn't cause any harm to anyone or myself. Thinking about this know made me think about the past where i used to have lucid nightmares every night until it became detrimental to myself. I think its my mind giving me a rest from the past, nowadays I always can control what i dream about.
Comfortable Mystery
Lightless Dawn
Felt real, feels real, today after nap, woke up from a dream where a part of my mind was telling me I left grandma alone, by herself, and when I woke up the very conscious part of the brain told me...that she's dead, reminded me she's dead. Probably was the regret part in me trying to make up for the lost time with some family members.
Were times where my dreams were predictive. It matters also what input the brain gets.
And then are also the dreams of delusional people...

The main point is to immediately forget and disregard bizarre dreams as they mean nothing. You're human with a powerful, rational brain. Shakespeare said it best: "To sleep, perchance to dream"

Most common theme in my dreams: Falling from high buildings (great height) and being lost in an unknown place (not finding the way back home). When i was younger (around my 20s) i often dreamt about women (specifically spending time with my fictional GF/ wife), getting killed by monsters, loosing teeth and even occensionally fighting dragons (I was a Dovahkiin before it was cool).

I don't have sleep paralysis but I have had distressing false awakenings, and I find that there's a strangely small amount of literature on that. I had a horrendous false awakening dream back in 2019 where I woke up into 3-4 different dreams, and in the last one, I was chased by a demon named Calduze, and when I woke up FINALLY in reality, I was legit looking out my window and everything to make sure it was the real reality. I was legit in a weird psychotic break for like 2 minutes upon waking. And of course, throughout high school (i went from 2011-2015), I had dozens of dreams of getting ready for school, only to not actually be getting ready of course...
Lately, as of March 2026, I've just been having a lot of cosmic dreams. Giant red moons, black holes made of Ophanim angels, Saturn being visible in the night sky (as the full planet, not just a "star" in the distance).

More User Perspectives
I'm told that I dream and simply do not remember. Then I have forgotten all my life because I remember 1 dream, over 5 decades ago and nothing since. I 'm not even aware that I'm falling asleep or waking up. The whole things happens in the moment. I've gotten used to it but it sure can be creepy at times.Tic I am awake, toc I'm asleep and .. Tic, I'm back with the only thing to remind me that I was asleep is the clock on the wall.
@Renaud-o4fThank you
@bobwill4232fell asleep watching this 😭
@jordanbarr72my most recurrent dream is that i’m still in high school but the building is my middle school and im always trying to find my locker and i can’t remember the lock combination😭
@Xitl4lythank you SO SO SO SO SO much for not using ai i am so tired of seeing ai slop you are the best dude
@cr33py_kittyyOther deminsions short lived
@JamesVowell-i2hLegendary YT pull to fall asleep to.
Night boys
Fell asleep to this and woke up dreaming
@alsowinehouseYou don’t know ANYTHING about why people dream. NOTHING.
@CorduroyjohnsonrodI remember too many of my dreams in waking hours. I even remember dreams that I had as a child. Weird
@CYR888I just want to note that magnesium glycinate/bisglycinate supplements and vitamin C rich fruits absolutely do contribute to me having more dreams. I haven't found anything else of significance yet though
@InTheLight33IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS i had many dreams of the future of myself when i was 9-12 years old and every one of those deja vu's ive had (now being in my 20s) goes back when i was a kid. im a very logical person and i believe what i can see with my eyes, but this i cant explain.
@EpitaphUserI love to dream, I don't care what the dream is about. Keep a pen and pad at your bedside as soon as you wake ,.write your dream down on paper.
@johnchiles3916Excellent video excellent content and very informative a real contribution to learning about sleep.
@UpForDebate-999Wow, I thought I would find more lucid dreamers in the comments. I'm sure most of you can do it its not that hard to do, just focus and relax as you drift off.
@JohndozerAll I ever did was focus, on whatever I wanted to occur in my dream, as I drifted off to sleep.
Most nights I fly around but when I manage to lucid dream I have 100% control and I know I'm dreaming when I'm in my dreams. I can shift locations, characters, time of day. Whatever I want to happen, happens, even completely deviating from my plans as I had drifted off to sleep.
Sometimes it feels like being the all powerful master of the universe...then I wake up looking forward to tomorrow night.
Another Question.
Why Does Life Slumber?
Great voice!!
@midnighdaisyhistory❤❤

@fuf_6694Could you , possibly, talk any faster???
@FredMiller-h8cA better question is why I don't dream.I have dreamed a few times but I really don't dream,though I have used dream catchers and I am of American Indian blood.
@laurabiggs2409Sleep paralysis is the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced. Nothing comes close to that feeling of raw, primal terror.
@mmmmmbobby"Without AI" SUBBED!
@mmmmmbobby"Night" and the Old English mære (a demon or goblin), referring to a folkloric entity believed to sit on sleepers' chests and cause feelings of suffocation and terror. The word has no relation to the female horse (mare), originating instead from Proto-Germanic and PIE roots for crushing or harming
@lilmike2710You wouldn't even think about that years ago
@Nila-k5n6hOtherwise it's just our mind trying to keep itself going without any of our own responses to what it keeps on churning out
@rajan-r2p3sDream is a term for us to tell ourselves it's what happens when we go to sleep without listening to rock a bye baby on the tree top
