veryone who loves martial arts movies seems to be talking about The Furious — so why isn’t it playing in more theaters?
Unfortunately he's right, Hell, I live 4 blocks from a premium theater....and it's not there. I'm in a major city😢
As much as action fans want this to be treated like the next big theatrical event, the box-office history of this genre tells a very different story. Even modern benchmarks like The Raid and The Raid 2 became action-fan legends without ever becoming massive theatrical hits.
So is The Furious being under-released… or is this just the harsh reality of foreign martial arts films in 2026?
So sad. Its soooo good.

It was only showing in 2 theaters in my city with limited screens, but usually the auditoriums would be full! It’s gonna crush on home release, give it a sequel and watch what happens 💪

This type of movie is gonna be on streaming in like two weeks. I can just continue to watch what I like and once it pops up on the pirating website I use, then I watch it and enjoy it in the comfort of my own home.

And The Furious is far from a box office failure. It's actually already a hit for it's budget and It's not even out yet in countries like the UK, etc.

hopefully it does really well on home release streaming. I realize the genre doesn't appeal to everyone and their hasn't been a martial arts movie in theatre over here in canada in a long time unfortunately. The Furious played at one showtime (3:50pm) for a week at just one theatre in my city sadly, but i got out to see it twice! At both showings there was maybe 10-15 people in the theatre but each time people laughed and clapped during the final fight, it was great. I also heard a guy behind me telling his girlfriend all about the movie before it started and she seemed pretty disinterested, but after the movie they left the theatre excitedly talking and smiling. She was won over by the awesomeness! lol.

It's really a shame, I would've loved this movie in IMAX.

I'm from germany, saw The Furious on its release date 18th of june and was blown away. Now, after the first weekend The Furious didn't even reach the Top 10 here. After his first weekend in the US it was at number 8 after all.

@tommytam3208Yeah my preferred theatre didn’t have it there. I had to go out of my way to see this movie and there were only 6 of us in that theatre.

@sarathbabu1245Nigjt Comes for Us is another phenomenal one, that was a Netflix release though. It’s like a spiritual sequel to The Raid movies, and has the same actors.

@Bullzeye47Yup, I agree with Sean. Although, this video is about "The Furious" , I kid you NOT, there are still plenty of people out there who don't even know about "The Raid: Redemption" or "The Raid 2" and these are self-professed action fans, let alone regular movie-goers.
As a matter of fact, I can go back even further because there are many people out there who've never heard of "Kung-Fu Hustle" as well.
I saw it here in the Chicago area. Few showings. I had to go to a different theater than my local usual spot. As for the movie, it was alright. Very simple plot, mostly fighting. Got repetitive by the end. It will probably get some love on streaming.
@ArneAsada69I say this strongly, i literally called my cinemark to put in some showings after explaining i knew multiple people who wanted to see it in theaters and they refused. Why bother giving it a secret screener if you wont play it. And im in a 100 thousand population town its not even that unreasonable. Beyond frustrating
@coletrainhetrickJust an FYI, but in HK, the film is rated category III. It's the equivalent of an NC-17 there, only it's 18+, so there's less demand.
@KevinWang-h5tIt isn’t out in the UK until next week, but there is absolutely no awareness of this film. It’s definitely going to be drowned by all the big franchise films at this time.

It won't be a hit because it's a limited release. Even Godzilla minus one didn't make big money overseas because of it was in limited in cinemas in the west. The Furious will make a bigger dent in physical media because it will be more widely available. The cost is to high for the studios to put the Asian film market to all theatres. The cost of marketing along with nation wide releases are sky high 🎥
