I meaaaaaaaaaaaan... yes, and no? Of course that what you say about AI is right, but what you say about the artists shortening the music, that is all their decisions, my man. Dream Theater is a band that has been around since 1989. Their average length for songs is like 6 minutes. They do have intros that last 28 seconds, or even interludes that last 1 minute. They usually tell a story with every album, so they use interludes as change of pace and to hook you into an even longer song. Their longest song is 24 minutes. I repeat: twenty four minutes. This is NOT a one time ocurrence, by the way. Almost every album has a song that lasts between 14 minutes to 24. 24 is just the longest overall. So believe they are being really screwed about the spotify streams. Their latest album came out last year and except for one interlude that lasts 1min 28sec, their shortest song on that album is almost 6 minutes, their longest is 19. So putting revenue before music and quality of music, that's on the artists. Yes, Spotify can screw you, but putting up algorithms before what you truly believe your music does or how you do music, I believe that's on you. It's not like Taylor Swift is a starving artist.
With this I'm not defending spotify. I mean that you can absolutely fight the good fight against spotify and their practices, while still making good music that is faithful to what you've been doing throughout your career. The actually real peope getting screwed are new artists, people with smaller listeniner counts.

Luckily rock/metal music on the independent side are VERY creative. Bands like MSPAINT, Lip Critic, and Blind Equation. Also pop music is absolutely having a moment, I really like Kim Petras new album, Danny brown had a really cool experimental hip hop album featuring a bunch of younger artists. Jane remover made music 2 I think idek what to say bout them, but Spotify doesn’t push any of that

I HATE that EVERY SINGLE damn recommended playlist plays my same music over and over. So incredibly frustrating!! Pandora blows Spotify out of the water with random and new music!!!!! I'm gonna cancel Spotify. Greed ruins the world and not caring about others makes it worse.

Interesting you mentioned the 8 minutes song. According to my music law professor at one point bands got paid on how large their album or songs were. This pushed a drive in bands creating really long songs. Bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, or Frank Zappa got paid well for this. Of course the record labels had that squashed and it was no longer a thing.
Thanks so much for watching! You all are the best.

Is that picture from 'Where Winds Meet'? It looks like something I'd find in the game. Spotify is so greedy! Thanks for another great video!

We live in a world where even the biggest music streaming side is not net profitable... how can people not see how broken the system is?!
=-=-=-=
I know artist just leave their own websites and then have their music like and then they get all of the profit like go daddy is a thing I don’t know I just feel like there are plenty of people that only like listening to specific artists all the time and I am somebody that will put a song on repeat sometimes for an entire day so why dont these people just have their people that like them listen on their website and do a monthly/weekly subscription and/or coin method where you listen to a certain amount of songs for a certain price Idk i just thinks if we all know the music top people are awful we can all take it down by making new standards
More User Perspectives
1 cent per stream is an insanely high price to pay for music!
@satanlover134Spotify is for the casual music fans who only listen to radio artists. It’s a joke
@user-es1vk1qk2cSpotify is so awful, can’t shuffle songs and consistently plays the same few songs while also hiding others. It’s a joke. Apple Music shits on it
@user-es1vk1qk2cI know a few users dropped their Spotify account and went to Pandora or Apple. A lot of independent artists aren't having their music sent to Spotify either.
@humbledsoulsnetworkPoor Taylor Swift. She just doesn't have any money. Spotify is so mean.
I have never used Spotify and I never will, Taylor Swift complaining about not getting enough money isn't a convincing point.
Just wanted to leave a like and say I think your style is super cool. I've subscribed to you, bro.
@baphitheoldYup which is why I went back to an Ipod 5th gen
@williamtorres2936Slopify™: You'll pay more, get less and be happy about it. 😍
@serdipNew songs featuring DMX? Interesting...
@sebastianhabel7312Damn I still use spotify just because it's easy but it's definitely not the exciting experience I found it to be in 2016 when I signed up. I have so many liked songs and always hear the same ones on my schuffle. It's slowly driving me insane. Honestly if there was a better platform offered to me, I would jump ship without even thinking twice!
@diariesoftheawakening3:00 I shut off my shuffle over a year ago. I’m the boss
@CrustyButtsI just use my spotify for the every once in awhile new album of someone I like and audiobooks I keep it cuz I get Hulu free too which costs just as much lol
@jeffphisher38013:36 origami angel 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@TheHunter3211RUNESCAPE
@hamsterman1995If you have never watched the Wings of Pegasus channel you should. Even if you find a new singer you like (and they are real) chances are they are not really singing anymore. To me, that is worse than AI content. These artists are putting out content that is essentially completely corrected by computer and when they perform “live” it is all miming (lip syncing). Truly reprehensible.
@craigerator7548Switched to YouTube music, never looked back.
@Tieko-d2rspotify is stupid i prefer to own a hard copy of my music
@randyross1889As someone who grew up with streaming services for music, I find CDs and Records VERY convenient and reliable. With CDs and an anti skip CD player, I can walk through a mall and not have to deal with ads, albums being mixed up, and listening to the same album consistently. With records, I can play my music in my own home without having to hook up speakers, listen to ads, and listen to albums consistently and reliably. So again, as someone who grew up with streamed music, CDs and Records are my favorite way to reliably listen to music and save money at the same time ^^!
@KaisershobbiesofoblivianThe most user unfriendly app ever.
They even steal free audiobooks and load them to fuck you up .it's the reason I don't watch Joe.
Its to fucking hard
i just use yt music because of premium
@Felix_the_cuberthe core issue is that streaming turned music into a commodity where the value per play is almost nothing. and the people who get hurt the most are songwriters, because even when a song does well the publishing side gets a fraction of what the master side earns. until the payment model changes, the best thing artists can do is make sure their ownership and splits are locked in tight so they at least collect everything they're owed
@ShiftedMusicThe Duo now is 18.99, and its so bloated that it doesnt matter how much internet speed I have it just takes a minute to load my list. I have a go to curated list and that shit takes long af to show the songs, to the point that I have to exit twice to be able to see my list but it especially goes full stupid when I use the search option on my lists; it just goes black and it needs to be closed completely or, again, exit to the main Home page to refresh the damned app. This started for me when they decided to start trying to become Youtube, Kindle and Audible all at the same damned time. This, plus the fact that the CEO is a piece of shit, they have AI music swamping the ambiance and misc list they make and the way they treat the artisits while enshittifying the app....fuck this...back to physical media, like back in my youth days.
@shirophoenix01I don't mind artists that use AI.. but they absolutely must be ranked at the bottom the totem pole. They must be capped.
I think if the user has created there own AI from scratch. "Not modified existing open Ai" they could rank a bit higher... But Spotify must be focussed on rewarding human creativity.. not artificial creativity..
If the feds stop rewarding human creativity. Creativity dies.. and so does capitalism.
If capitalism dies everyone will live outside.. they won't even have nails to build a log cabin.. this is not an opinion, this is a fact. Read capitalist objectivism by Leonard Peikoff.
A steaming music service must not act like a music label. Period.
@VIDEODRON3Spotify is a music host . It cannot monopolize its own platform by creating its own artists, or ghost artists.. that's an illegal practice.
