PSG vs Bayern exposed a clear divide in modern football. One game driven by players and 1v1 duels, the other by control and structure. This video breaks down how different tactical approaches shape the game, and why risk might be disappearing.

@football meta! loving the FMstadio platform you created! some feedback - it would be fantastic if you created a keyboard shortcut that handles the "remove from now" function. I find I use the "remove from now" function much more than the delete function

Arteta is killing the talent that he has in his team. Hence they find it difficult to win against teams like PSG and city. He relies on his system instead of relying on both the system and the talent he has. Had he allowed them to embrace their real talents along with his system Asernal FC would become one of the hardest teams to beat.

KEEP UP TO DATE
I doubt there is a Bayern fan who would not have preferred grinding out a 1-0 win over PSG to losing 5-4, no matter how thrilling the game. Regarding league competitiveness, the Compression Index measures the degree of competition among the top six clubs in each of the Big Five European leagues. Historically, the Bundesliga and, until this season, Ligue Un have been the two least competitive of the five on that measure. It might be that the intensity of the 10 games against their main challengers each season is less draining for Bayern and PSG than for the top English, Spanish and Italian clubs, and that the cost of risking dropped points because of rotation against teams in the lower half of the table is lower.

I mean, WHAT A GAME.
02:22 How Enrique & Kompany Encourage 1v1's
06:18 HowArteta & Simeone see 1v1's
People were saying Ligue 1 isn't competitive enough and that's why PSG kept failing. Now people are saying Ligue 1 isn't competitive enough and that's why PSG is successfull.
08:17 Was PSG v Bayern a Possible Solution?
Arsernal Defence use much offside trap...which might be dangerous if thay face versetile players like Kvicha and Dembele which are good in both foot...

â€Thank you for this great vidĂ©o!!
@Topline.alardathis analysis is honestly way more boring that arsenal style of play, just sounds intelligent
@GoonerDontKnowY56If I'm an attacker, whether ST, LW or RW I'd rather play for a manager like Enrique or Kompany than to play for someone that'll limit my creativity and force me bend to their will, all this rubbish tactics are ruining the beautiful game, you rarely see an attacker have the freedom to dribble at his pace. So I like the evolution from Enrique and Kompany and I hope new generation of managers will integrate this as much as possible.
@CheskiEditDay 17378283 of saying Kane is absolute trash.
Same as MBappe. They trick the fans with a few goals, so they dont see the real problem.
Italy vs Brazil 1982 all over again - the day football died.
That is what is at stake with whoever faces Arsenal in the final. System/tactical/structured football vs a more defined but free attacking/offensive football.
no
@josephkennel3656I'm surprised that neither the video nor the comments have stated an obvious point : Atletico and Arsenal did not take on a lot of 1v1s because there was not a lot of opportunities. Both teams are incredibly disciplined defensively, and the four wingers were closed down by two players almost the whole game. As an Arsenal fan, I must admit that the game between PSG and Bayern was far more entertaining, but let's not put it all on the coaches : Arteta and Simeone are not against 1v1s, and when they have the opportunities, their wingers almost always go for it. But their two teams are so disciplined that they do not allow a lot of these situations.
@mehdi-b6q8bSo u decided to put Arteta instead of Vincent kompony
@lindanimlena1662You said that the Bayern player were more effective but none of their goals came from that kind of play, two were from set pieces (including a penalty) one came from the center because Vito ha didnât close down Olise and Safonov failed to stop a central shot on goal. PSG on the other hand were very efficient and scored four goals using the attacking tactics you described. I think PSG will win tonight and destroy Arsenal in the final like they destroyed inter last year.
@lucwenbourne2337Dumb video
@jacob6908FM is predicting PSG vs ARS final...
@Xo_IdmtYeah Saka became a superstar because he sucks in 1v1s. What are you going on about? Olise would be on the bench for Arsenal when Saka is fit!
@Christophe.Cfootball video copyrights are brutal
@hidudewhatsupgreat vid
@hidudewhatsupAgora o mundo vai se voltar aos dribles e os brasileiros, que mudaram a forma de jogo para se adequar aos europeus, vĂŁo ficar perdidos, de novo...
@Felipezz92Sebastian Hoeness Stuttgart video?
@filiperiksson617The 2 teams were rested. They play on easier leagues and they can rest players for CL. Dembele has played only the equivalent of 10 matches in League 1. Bayern wins Bundesliga with more than 8 games left. No one in the rest of the big leagues is this well rested at the end of the season to run like this
@P3praxisGreat video! As a football viewer, I like games like PSG x Bayern, but as a fan, I would be infuriated with the fact that my team suffered 4 or 5 goals. I think that this match was perfect for teams that favor attack over defense, which was not the case in Arsenal vs. Athletic
@rodrigoburgos8179Iâm no football expert, but coming from a competitive gaming background, Iâve learned that stats don't tell the whole story without the 'surprise factor.' A high-percentage play loses its edge if the opponent expects it. Conversely, a 'suboptimal' move can become way more effective just by catching them off guard. Sometimes, being unpredictable is better than being statistically perfect.
@doutsida6715Olise at Arsenal would be a winger who receives the ball near the touchline, does a few moves with his leg above the ball while standing still, then passes the ball back to his teammate, so that the teammate can pass it to another teammate, until the whole thing circulates back to Olise, where he can do a few moves with his leg above the ball while standing still, then... [*loops it eternally]
@red.dead.joe.xI'd say, Olise might not have been the exact same player if he had played for Arsenal, BUT we can't know if Arteta wouldn't have based his structure around him a bit, and allowed him to do his own things on the pitch...
TBF structural/positional football is boring to watch if you're just here for the thrill of the game, but I like to watch games while focusing on the shapes from time to time so...
Still I miss the "simplier" times, where dribbles were attempted more often, tiki taka was the pinacle of the sport and fewer people were focusing on stats, in my honest opinion xG killed spontaneous football...
What does my head in and has utterly ruined the game is the pathetic state of modern day defending. No challenges, hardly ever any tackles inside the box, just shadowing the opponent with hands clasped behind the back, making it so easy for the striker take a clear shot on goal. I often see 2, 3 or even 4 defenders surrounding a striker in the box and not ONE makes a challenge. Defenders even clasp their hands behind their back when OUTSIDE the box - why FFS? đ. It is a pathetic spectacle. Surely it is better to prevent a clear shot on goal than risk a potential penalty? If the defender keeps their hands by their side in a natural position and doesn't move their hand to the ball then there is minimal risk the ref will award a pen.
@Iceni007Also, this video doesn't mention the fact that in the Arsenal/Atleti game is that both teams were sensible enough to double up on the wide wingers. Very lazy analysis.
I'll say it again. If Arsenal make it to the final, you'll see players of either Bayern or PSG dropping back to defend
It's funny. When either of these teams face Arsenal, they'll sit back and defend too because they know if Arsenal go ahead, it's almost game over.
PSG and Bayern set up in a mid block the last times they faced Arsenal. You people just say anything. The defensive side is a very important aspect of football.
I NEVER WANT TO WATCH A GAME WHERE MY TEAM CONCEDES 5 TIMES. I'm not a neutral.
Great analysis
@Lancelot9587Who's Arteta?
What has he won in football as a player or a coach?
Just boring
Simeoni plays terrible football.
So does Arteta.
in all the examples you are showing the defensive positioning in one game is very different from the other. There is space for Kvara and Olise to work with, because the opponents are not in a low defensive unit. The examples from Arsenal game -- there is just no space.
@george-byAmazing video
@arthur90962:52 heatmap of Olise is crazy
@sigmundfreude4088It feels as if one game is fought in tight shield formation while other is fought in loose steppe arrangement
@evranirnekSo maybe football will once again also depend on individual quality, creativity and unpredictability, brilliant.
@martineishom4The problem I have with all the people complaining about modern football is that, for one thing it is a campaign primarily led by broadcasters & "content creators" and I don't think we need 1000 guesses to figure out why they want football to be more exciting, but also there is a lack of understanding (or care) among the loudest voices that if we were to institute rule changes to encourage more attacking football we would all very quickly become bored by high scoring games. It would be 4-6 weeks of 5-4 games before someone said "god, I really miss a hard-fought 1-0". Exciting games are exciting SPECIFICALLY because we can't predict when they will happen. That is the gamble of sport that makes it worth watching. If you want guaranteed excitement, I suggest you try professional wrestling.
@pieceofgosaWhat about the defense line?
Atletico likes to wait behind. While Psg and Bayern have a high defense line.
Football in the 1970a to 1990s was so much better. Player makers. Wingers beating full backs. Crosses from by line. Crunching tackles. Goalkeepers holding onto shots and crosses. Goalkeepers diving at feet of strikers. Diving headers. Football today is boring
@weetakI think the real difference is how deep the other team is defending. Atlético and Arsenal wanted to defend deep and minimize transitional play which certainly makes the overall game much more predictable
@milunacodeshalal vs haram
@KollohadIt wasn't a wake up call for for jack shite...
@pikachuichooseyou4273To me it just feels like both defenses were rubbish.
