Why Ohio Is the Center of Everything
Video Overview & Insights
Why is Ohio so important to the United States? Ohio’s geography shaped American trade, industry, transportation, and political power — from the Great Lakes and Ohio River to canals, railroads, manufacturing, and modern logistics.
Happy 250th, USA. 🇺🇸
Did you know that one of America's most famous patriotic songs reads surprisingly like a map? https://youtu.be/zUVq43yYwcA
For centuries, Ohio sat at the intersection of the systems that built America. The state connected the Northeast to the Midwest, Atlantic trade to the Mississippi basin, and industrial cities to agricultural land. That geography helped make Ohio a manufacturing powerhouse, a political bellwether, and one of the most strategically important states in the country.

@GeographyEffectPeople will say Ohio is strange. And it's people are like 4 different states. The north/west is like Michigan & N. Indiana. The N.E. is like Pennsylvania, the S.W. is like KY & Indiana & the S.E. is like Eastern KY & the Appalachian people.
I live in West Central Ohio. You can grow anything here. And it's the same with central Indiana & Illinois too.
Ohio was the glass capital of the country. Lots of famous glassware came from here. Dayton was the tooling capital of the world in the 1960's. From cash registers to automobiles.
Jimmy Carter & others taking the tariffs off was a big mistake & started the downfall of manufacturing in the US. Terrible President. I celebrated his death but not his life. And my Mother's maiden name was Carter & we are from western TN. Probably kin but I don't care. He was terrible for the country.
But most dems have been horrible for the country, since the 1830's. Nothing but British sympathizers in that party.
stop talking about Ohio. I spent my life growing up waiting to move away from here, only to realize it's the best place to be.
@blgdinger3I lived in Toledo, Ohio my whole life 70 years when I was young in the 60s early 70s. It was a perfect city. Everything was great but my kids grew up. I got them to live outside of Toledo and I’m moving next without section 8. The city would collapse or become great again I don’t know which.

@steveb9151Ohio is where Americans should be living. Too bad it's not coastal.
@erichottel7783I liked the video but as a 46 year Ohio native I can explain the political change. Ohio has always been socially conservative. You can look back at individual issue ballot results for the last 30 years a least and see where Ohio stands. The two parties had been in line on most major social issues so you had 3 factions in the State. Your traditional Jesus First Republicans, Union Dems and Independents.
At some point around 2016 Democrats lurched left on social issues and didn't have much to say on economics. It pretty much left the Union Dems homeless and disinfranchised. They're socially conservative also.
That's why Ohio flipped red.
It's also becommimg a human trafficking hub and idk why they closed alot of the scale houses and stopped checking semi s and such. Ohio is selling farms out to china and corporations. Now the water etc...
