Why Nobody Talks About Florida's Biggest City

Video Overview & Insights

Jacksonville isn't just a Florida with, it's the largest city in the state with over a million citywide residents and ranking 10th in nation. But while Miami, Tampa, and Orlando have gone in a specific direction with development, attractions, and economics.. Jacksonville became more like Georgia.

There is nothing in Jacksonville. The most boring city there ever was.

No one says "Jacksonville DuVAL" we do say Duuuuuvalll, but that's different. AI can't speak like a human.

We love seeing Jacksonville get more recognition. If you're looking for something unique to do, we're opening the Jacksonville Sports Car Museum to the public again on July 25. We'd love to have you stop by! Also check out Brumos (Porsche) and the St. Augustine Classic Car Museum (American Classics). Duuuval!

Im from Miami and live in Jacsonville since 2009. I really like it here but I see the progress. It’s not going to stay quiet much longer.

JAX is much more peninsula then panhandle, if you get what I’m saying. It fell far behind as a cosmopolitan metro due to decades of overly conservative leadership that was often picked by a once very influential church. Thankfully that church’s influence is all but dead and the city has very forward thinking leadership that is making headway in modernizing the city. It’ll never be South Florida, Tampa, or Orlando…but it has always been Florida and always will be. Those who call it South Georgia have a very narrow view of what Florida is, with no understanding of history. 1.7 million for the metro is a good number that brings in plenty to do. That number will be at 2 million by 2035. The road network here is the best in the state, the airport is very nice and growing to keep up with the population. Downtown finally has significant projects taking place that will likely continue until about 2032 or 33 before once can step back and take a look to appreciate its new look. Three BIG things that would go a LONG WAY to improving the metro’s offerings for residents and visitors would be (1.) a single theme park, (2.) a single stand alone casino, not resort, and (3.) a proper permanent cruise port on the eastern side of the bridge. A single theme park doesn’t mean we’re trying to be Orlando…we don’t want to be them, but to not take advantage of the year round weather that allows for one is stupid. It should be heavy coaster themed park like a year round Cedar Point that’s significantly cheaper than the Orlando parks. The casino should be downtown and follow the template of the one in New Orleans. The only thing keeping the cruise industry from taking off here is the lack of a proper port on the eastern side of the bridge.

And most corrupt city government. I have lived here since 2017 with much disapointment.

Jacksonville isn't a city. It's a giant series of suburbs and quasi-residential economic nodes. Lots of people, but no center.
Telling someone you're from "Jacksonville" could mean anywhere from the Georgia border to St. Augustine and west almost to Lake City.
If you don't mind not having any urban amenities, it's not a bad place to live, provided you don't have to commute in this, the great suburban parking lot.

Jacksonville by size is the largest city in the USA

@PhantomOfManyTopics

The only reason its the biggest city is because they count all the suburban bs as Jacksonville. only leaving room for smaller Suburbs like Orange

Nothing to see here in Jacksonville...go somewhere else.

Jacksonville is crazy enough as it is right now. We reeaallly don't need it to turn into another Miami/Tampa/Orlando. Also, can't get over how you're pronouncing Duval as "Du-Val" Fun fact: In the way early 1900s, Jacksonville was America's first Hollywood. The poor city also got burnt to a crisp in 1901.

@sangregato7831

Let's cut Florida in half just below Orlando and push the land below Orlando into the Atlantic ocean . Maybe into Cuba or South America .😂

Born and raised in Jacksonville. IT SUCKS!!!

It keeps getting better. The Kahn’s are busting the bank to fix the downtown

I love my city Duuuuuuval !!! Go to Orlando and get stuck in I-4 traffic only to stay at one their hotels or go to Miami to be broke visiting one strip of sargassed beach front. Tampa meh it’s alright.

I lived in Jacksonville and I'd guess if you move from Orlando,Tampa or Miami it might seem really southern to you But I also lived in Birmingham Alabama a culturally southern city through and through northern influence has not yet and I think never will penetrate Birmingham to any real affect as it did say Atlanta which makes Jacksonville southern seem like the Midwest to me Jacksonville does have its parts where you feel the southern influence particularly the older parts of Northside but Jacksonville itself Southern feel has been very much diluted especially among the young generation

I’m actually glad Jacksonville is like that. There are too many people, too much chaos, overpriced everything, and too many unnecessary corporations in places like Miami and Orlando which makes life miserable for working people who just wants a chill life without burning through cash.

I always thought Miami had more people than any other city in Florida, I thought Miami had like a million people. No wonder why scammers go to Miami to flex😂

My wife and I went to a wedding in Jacksonville in 2011. We went to get something to eat downtown, but every restaurant was closed. At 9pm. On a Saturday night. That's Jacksonville.

Jacksonville sucks. Way too many people. Prices are crazy as are the people. I'm hoping to get out the end of the year. New York came bought up housing and made the housing market crazy. 250,000 for a house in the hood.

Jax is a practical big city. I always bitch about it, but when I travel elsewhere in the country and come back, there's a sense of utility/stability that is undeniable.

Jacksonville is not the US’ largest city geographically, by far; in actuality it is fourth as the other three cities by geographical area are in Alaska.

How fast do you drive dude?
Jacksonville is 8 hours from Miami, maybe seven. Definitely not 5.

Jacksonville was originally a French Huguenot Settlement.

Having lived in southern Georgia..... Jacksonville metropolitan has little in common with southern Georgia. Just because it's not like south Florida doesn't mean it's south Georgia. People just don't have the creativity to accurately describe the area choosing either one box or the other.....how about a third box instead?

@kevinwade5532
@

Jacksonville is the "largest city in the US" only if you don't include Alaska. "Difficult topography."??? Florida is pancake flat (the highest point is all of 345 feet above sea level).

@JoyClinton-i8g
@

Jacksonville to Orlando is mostly along I-95. I-95 to Daytona Beach and then I-4 to Orlando.

@markborkowski797
@

My biggest gripe with this video is the fact we’re looking at city propers and nots metropolitan areas. Jacksonville is “forgotten” because it is the least populated major metro in Florida, with Orlando metro beating it by well over 1 million additional residents. Tampa beats it by an additional 1.7 million, and Miami by 4.7 million!! This video and even its thumbnail shows extremely dishonest framing.

@michaelthedick
@

It's a good town, beautiful river and natural coastlines. A lot of MAGA types though.

@mr3745
@

I - 95 is really long and nobody likes the rest stops. Just like Florida and Jax.

@1960misteroctober
@

Accurate assessment. Speaking as a life-long Jax native, I think a lot of people that live here will tell you that we don't want the traffic associated with a tourist town like Orlando...traffic is bad enough already. Because of our geographic location, we aren't subject to hurricanes as often as Tampa and Miami. Everyone agrees that we need more recreational amenities and the river has never been utilized to its full potential, especially downtown. Maybe someday our city leaders will get it right...they definitely blew it with the Jacksonville Landing. It's a great place to live if you like boating and fishing. Pros and cons...

@firedog1003

Clearly this turd doesn't live in Jacksonville. So many people have been. Moving there. Fml. The traffic sucks now.
