and should there be a permanent host?
The IOC is full of graft and corruption.

Unrelated but if the U.S. lifted restrictions against Cuba a Havana Olympics could be a kinda sick idea
The Olympics are in a crisis – no one wants to host the Games anymore. After decades of fierce competitions, only 2 cities ended up in contention for the 2024 Games; Paris and LA. Worried that no one would bid for 2028, the Olympics gave them both a Games. This video will use economic data, archive, and expert analysis to explain how the most prestigious sporting event in the world got too far over its skis and how it plans to get cities interested in hosting again.
Special thanks to Andrew Zimbalist.
The days of one city hosting an Olympics may be over. Either spread it out throughout the entire country (like the World Cup), or spread it out WORLDWIDE, over the course of 2 months; with one event held in one country and another event held elsewhere, with no single city or country hosting the same sport in back-to-back Olympics.

what the IOC could do is pick 4-5 cities to use on a rotation, and that would come back every 20 years, having one permanent site would cause people to hate the idea of going to the same place every 4 years, keeping a rotation of 5 cities on a 20 year cycle for summer games, and 5 for winter games would make more sense, you'd have 1 in the USA, London, Beijing, Sydney, and Paris, the venues are there, and ready to be reused. no need for white elephant projects, winter games could rotate with a permanent site in Canada, the USA, Norway, a site in Asia, and probably Austria or Switzerland and put them on a 20 year rotation schedule, this model can be a win for the 10 cities, and fans don't suffer from fatigue of going to the same olympic city every 4 years.

Should do the Olympics like the world cup and have it host country instead of host city with a central hub city
More User Perspectives
i was in altanta in1996. all that planning and work and is remembered for a terrorist bomb. u could put ur soul into it and a violent attack ruins it. ask munich
@cassavamellinThe Olympics, at least the summer games, should always be held in Greece. That way you can have one facility and just maintain it. Instead of a "host nation" have a "sponsor nation" that's responsible for the opening and closing ceremonies. That way, even smaller countries can take center stage.
@keithchambersii6028The thumbnail lmao, New York, Toronto, Paris... Veracruz xd
@MemesNickFootball World Cup is more prestigious and improtant than the Olympics.
@rodolphodecastrorodrigues7457Based on what I’ve seen and experienced of the World Cup so far just let Mexico handle it
@ayoitsyayoI mean, in a general way, Rio benefited from it, but I can only talk about my own city.
The only issue was the public transport as mentioned, but that is a Rio issue, not an Olimpics issue ahahaha
Hosting the World Cup is the real money maker
@nicholasking7120bro honestly they just need to have 10 cities to be permenant hosts that rotate that way those cities can build the infrastructure and actually use it more than once
@YoungSandwich-n6oGreat video thanks guys 😅
@Q8PatriotIf FIFA has shown us anything, LOS ANGELES got the big bucks
@djflix_LA is the city of DREAMS
@djflix_Sydney was hugely successful. I haven't been to the Olympic park for at least 200 events over the last decade. Lots of people live there, lots of restaurants, conferences concerts, sports games and the Olympic Village all was sold to pay for the cost. It was also hugely sustainable 🎉
@TheAmandismThe cities that host the olympics are already known worldwide from LA to Tokyo to Madrid to Paris to Rome NONE OF THEM NEED EXPOSURE
@FTSARES18Збс у тебя чехол, дядя. Банджо, да
@blackcatoholicjewThe Bird's Nest stadium incurs annual maintenance costs of $10 million after the Olympics, but generates $45 million in revenue annually. The benefits of Beijing's infrastructure upgrades far outweigh the costs.I'm not sure about other countries, but the author seems particularly fond of using examples of the failures of his own country's geopolitical rivals.
@ZaneMK77Because they are a ripoff.
@shanerockliff7558Let me answer that , EU wants America to pay for that too !
@blainesitter9110No one wants to host the Olympics because it costs billions and will bankrupt the host country.
UK: Now hold on a minute.
its 2026 and i am proud that Hamburg where I live again voted against making a bid until 2040 ! our local government tried to bully the population into voting yes to get any kind of social improvments, but we reisted succesfully =)
@Jakumatavenues can be used for concerts
@user-fj1du6uh1xIm pissed that Brisbane is in 32 ' ……. Seriously our Population here in Queensland can not afford this crap .
@roowithersIt was put to a vote in Calgary, and politicians were surprised and pissed-off when voters turned down the 2026 Winter Olympics. Smart move.
@mtnhowieNo one does it like the British.
We were the ones to pick it up after the 2nd WW. That was obviously a hot potato. Well done the good old Brits.
The latest London one will be remembered for loads of good reasons. It just happened to be shortly after a world financial failure.
Done it again Britain. 😉 Well done us.
Who else would get their Queen to jump from a parachute and get Mr. Bean to play to it on a piano?
Yep! The world don’t like us, but what the heck! 👋🤪👍
When was Burger King dishing out free whoppers?
@Smakbab9069In before watching the video, this might be talked about, but why not host it in 1 city every 4 years? Take Athens for example. Host it there. Lots of great arguments to make here, making the ‘world hopping’ look ridiculous to every sane human.
@generaalpepThe London Olympic stadium is being leased by a pro football team (West Ham United) who are paying far too little, so really the tax payer is covering a lot. They are likely to be relegated this season (to be determined), and if they are they have it in the agreement to pay even less!! So much for ‘legacy benefit’
@sgu02nsc66good. get rid of the shitty olympics. they are just bad money pissers. spend it on something productive.
@matthewbarabas3052I slept while watching this video i did not sleep yesterday sooooooo I gota watch the whole video again
@AakarshSingh-en3wx8:30 put your city on the map...
ya because nobody knew about LA, sydney, Toronto or any of the other host cities before they hosted the olympics...
Oil prices increasing, unnecessary war, nations sovereignty is in question, ethnic identity is getting erased in the name of globalization all these will contribute to questioning need of Olympic at this hour.
@BoldThoughts44A permanent home would be a mistake. Paris followed the LA '84 model and it looks like they came out on top. Lots of tourist money, lots of investment into things they needed, little investment into things they didn't. LA will be the same. That should be the base model, and I hope other international events do the same in the future.
Brisbane is taking a different route. They are spreading out their venues and building new stadiums and not housing the Olympians in existing structures, yes. BUT their new stadium they are building does have a team in the AFL ready to move into it, and an NRL team that is ready to move into the later team's old stadium instead of sharing a stadium with a competitor in the same league. That seems like "smart if we have the opportunity" diversion from the "best" plan because there is actually legacy there instead of an empty stadium. They also plan to turn the Olympic village into permanent housing afterward, instead of the typical temporary situation. And if they are spreading things out to existing venues that need little work and are building a transport network, well, they might not be spending the minimum but they might be mapping out the maximum.
Paris has a river going through it that for over 100 years wasn't safe to swim in. I don't know what dollar value you put on fixing that, but Paris did it for the Olympics (and frankly only for the Olympics) and the city may forever be better for it. LA, the city most notorious for bad traffic, is improving transport that doesn't rely on personal vehicles, and that infrastructure stays long past the Olympics. Brisbane is known for... being in Australia. They are building real housing people need that Olympians will borrow first for a couple of weeks, and a stadium with a team ready for it, and I really hope their transit expansion works out.
I don't know which city goes after Brisbane, but I hope it's one where "economic gain" isn't as speculative. By then it will have been long enough since a European city played host, at least for summer, that some other city that needs to build very little can step in. With bidding not happening, it would be foolish for the IOC to not approach Madrid. They've never hosted, but wanted to. They have stadiums for days, they have some of the best transport in the world, and and they don't need to build an Olympic village without building new housing, but could do it anyway.
Everything's a corporate scam now and the world loves it because you keep buying it
@Rob-metoo527The olympics are nothing more than corporate athletes and corporations.
@Rob-metoo527world saving money prepare for WW3
@kaidebombSo the host is the city that's obvious, the guests are the athletes who compete and the spectators who come visit that's all fine and dandy but what does that make the Olympic committee then in relation to the host? if it's not the guest then it can be one thing and one thing only.. a parasite! if the city was allowed to keep most of TV rights, and ticket revenue, I think it would make it worth it, but no, the Olympic so-called committee is only here to suck us dry, same thing with FIFA btw. So the model got to change, and these organisations need to be non profit from now on!!
@Haniblelol good the Olympics are crap anyway. Just a way for young athletes to get free orgies with each other and for corrupt governments and businesses to fleece everyone out.
@edwelndiobel1567Rio is a rat hole yet theyncan spend billions for olympics. WTF😂 humanity is f'd. Burn everything to ashes and reset society from ground zero.
@cellgames808Just build two permanent Olympic villages somewhere in Europe, have all the countries pay dues for Olympic nation membership (scaled to the number of athletes each country sends), and hire a permanent planning committee to use the dues to actually make the event happen. There, I've solved the problem, IOC give me $5b in consulting fees
@princess_intellI wonder if it would be possible to restore some of these white elephant stadiums and centers to become the official Olympic centers across the world. While it would be cool for the games to return to Greece, is it fair to them to forever foot them with the upkeep?
@MrOpinions-f3oVPN's are Absolute Dog Shit
Shame on you for pushing this fear mongering bullshit on your viewers
its lost its way ... its a money pit now using professional athletes now like hockey players for better viewership not interested anymore
@colinmorgan7771China held the 2008, was discriminated during the complete process and in every aspect, don't expect China to hold any anymore and actually, Chinese also don't care about the medal list anymore, it's just a platform for the white to conduct their white supremacy and racisism. China will only invest those money into innvoation and weapons.
