Why no one plays TIKI-TAKA now?
Video Overview & Insights
Tiki-taka has its roots in the passing football of Johan Cruyff's Barcelona and Ajax teams of the 1980s and 1990s. Cruyff, a true pioneer of Total Football, introduced a dynamic philosophy where players seamlessly shifted positions and moved with grace on the pitch. In the early 1990s, he planted the seeds of Tiki taka at Barcelona, laying the foundation for a lasting footballing legacy. As Cruyff passed on the torch of leadership, Dutch managers Louis van Gaal and Frank Rijkaard embraced the appreciation for possession and space during their stints at the Catalan club. However, the zenith of Tiki-taka brilliance arrived with Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy, which nurtured footballing legends like Lionel Messi, Xavi, and Andres Iniesta. These exceptional talents embodied the very essence of Tiki-taka, a philosophy refined through La Masia's teachings, and later showcased their magical skills under the tactical genius of Pep Guardiola. However, unfortunately, not a lot of managers follow Tiki Taka these days. Why is it? Let's find out.
Why tiki taka fell?
Because xavi iniesta are no more playing european football

Other Teams and Players have Caught up. Now Everyone in Top Teams can Keep Possession and Play without PRessure in Goalie Box.
Also with Physically Strong Players keeping possession and High Pressing the Spanish Weak Physic has Given Up. Thats Why Chelsea , Tottenham are all top now. Before that Chelsea had 11 defenders Physical Strength now they have both.

Having the ball is pointless? Controlling the game so the opponent has no chance to press? Tiki taka is always the solution especially against defensive teams.
Todays psg or real madrid or chelsea, had no chance against pep’s barca. Becausw high press was useless against them.

Bruh they forgot about the real goat of the Tiki taka masterpiece Sergio Busquets

Tiki taka is basically almost similar to "motion offense", a playstyle that introduced by Greg Popovich with San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. It's primarily focus on team oriented basketball with strong defensive foundation and smart offensive execution. He won 5 NBA titles with that playstyle. But the problem is, you need to pick the right players for that playstyle. Not every players can be fit into that system even they are trained and developed for years.

@ignat007Tiki taka is never dead it’s supreme ideology in football. You can’t have average footballer playing tiki taka. You need the best footballers who can see the whole pitch.
@godsoldier6240Tiki taka was the death of creativity out in the pitch and the rise of robotic players. I am glad this mentality is dying.
@marioescobedo5854Worst style of football ever.. it killed individuality in the sport. Now its a system and tactics. No more technical quality and brilliant talents
@TheeIdolJohahn Cruyff is more important in Blaugrana history than even Messi Cruyff brought glory days at Camp Nou when Cruyff arrived at Camp Nou average attendance was 23 000 but after wards average attendance rose to 85 90 000 up to now average attendance is 85 100 000 crowd we owe it to Johahn Cruyff more than just a Coach symbol of Catalonia teddy katalunya ziwani buru emba
@clydeotienootieno1711Johahn Cruyff philosophy will never leave Camp Nou teddy katalunya ziwani buru emba
@clydeotienootieno1711Its not Enrique or Guardiola didnt want to take Tiki Taka anyomore, they didnt found any quality that proper to play tiki taka equal level of Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets , Pedro, and Messi ? Tiki Taka need Extreme Understanding and Extreme ball keeping passing quickness
@ParetoEmperor-jp6keBecause it's really hard, you need all 11 players on the same page every game to do it properly
@sandoncrowder7839Cuz even the amateur teams know they have to press now. Tiki taka thrived when football positions were rigid. Coaches adapted and counter pressing, forcing tactical fouls. U have midfielder playing at striker, wingers and fullback inverted all the time. At highest level, players can play multiple positions and coordinate their press.
@thomasanderson9235Tiki taka was achieved with “right time right place”. A unique group of players with a unique coaching style during a particular time in football. Those wishing to replicate it, just know you can get close but it will never be possible.
@wizk04Tiki taka isn't played bcuz xavi iniesta busquets David silva retired
@AbdullahHashi-kw3qjThe players like haaland doesn't know how to do it
@f0izan161"Central" Middlefielder: Xavi
Busquest: IM A JOKE TO YOU?
Spain women play tiki taka
@DavidClinton-dv4fxWe now have “ticki atacka”🎉
@ToRo-wm4buFirst season at barça of xavi and he won the leavue with tiki taka
@bitchtoster5834At modern Times Hansi Flick and Pep style of play works. The key passing and high press and Monster physicality .
@MehhhhhhhhhsiFootball meta changed.
@MeitaryCounter attacks happen
@yip2454Whoever made this video onviously does not know anything about football because tiki taka is not dead, it is still alive in Argentina and the way they play. Tiki taka is simply a style of play, it knows no national boundries.
@scrapy3211The defensive structure of Tiki taka was immediate pressing up high with high line. Ironically this is also how best to defend it and since modern football revolves around pressing it is a style that’s now outdated and obsolete
@MonkeyDLuffy-pp4qiChelsea killed Tiki Taka in 2012 semi finals of Champions League
@manyananihlwatika726It requires specialized players to apply this. Where as for "gegenpress" all you need footballers that can run consistently. 2010's Barca can defeat any team from "modern" era.
@meph5291Tiki taka so design to make opposition players get exhausted and make use of there error...but with introduction of 5 players subs it difficult to have such tactic
@sake1007Possession based football will never die. The logic is simple, if I have the ball you, dont and have less opportunities to score.
I cant wait to start coaching to leave a lot of these managers on their a**
You have to evolve with the times. That's why Pep is always getting stick for experiments in critical games. Pep cane up with the false 9 role and now he has a false full back.
Never stay stagnant and get the right players for the job.
Thx to thomas muller 😂
@tejemuri3533Short answer.. no more Xavi and Iniesta.
@jontan6434Tiki-Taka is not dead…
I know this video came out 10 months ago, however Spain 🇪🇸 played Tiki-Taka to an art form in EURO 2024.
The scary thing about the 2024 Team vs 2008 Team, 2024 Spain is very young and has better Strikers with greater potential for growth. 2008 and 2012 Spain was full of World Class Veteran Midfielders who had average Strikers. That group of Midfielders which included Iniesta, Xavi, and Fábregas would impose their will against all opponents; only group of Midfielders I have seen in my life who can dominate without Strikers.
The prime Tiki Taka of late 2000's and early 2010's Barcelona is VERY difficult to do as the players need to know exactly where to be, be very press resistant and be a top tier ball passer. And unless a whole generation players aren't drilled into that style from childhood, having an entire core of players in a team that can do that reliably and consistently is very difficult to achieve.
@riichobamin7612Tiki taka is not dead. Tiki taka killed football…
@Loki-sk7biTiki taka needs quality players that are not superstars to work, the philosophy of passing to your teammate who has a 85% chance of scoring or taking a shot where you have a 70% chance of scoring, needs to be overcome. Most players egos will take the 70% chance
@FastandFinanceBecause they realized stats don’t matter , especially if Madrid kept winning CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ! Hahaha delusional thinking
@DarthZoraReal Madrid’s random playing and effective counters are what matters in soccer. That’s why they continue to dominate without needing a specific style. This is why Tiki Taka failed, because Bayern destroyed it in 2013, followed by many other teams after that.
@iversonsolis3324God damn it. This dude has no idea what he is talking about.
@The999999999abcIt died because of too many YouTube videos with shit AI narrators.
@Avgfiremanmake up your mind, is it tiki tacka, tiki take-a, tiki taka, ticky tayka. you pronounce it differently every time you said it
@PosebniPosebniMancity is still playing it in a way resembling barce tiki taka, yet not totally the same. Mainly because they dont have the players of the same skill set to execute it. However, if u watched mancity plays against other teams, their style still consist a lot of one-touch-quick-triangle pass, run behind defences etc. guardiola style doesnt change much. This is what he is good at and he will only continue doing it.
@waikiankhoo8746Full video of total misinformation.
Tiki taka is just name, but possession base football is not dead at all.
first problem is that most teams that wanted to copy didn't have same players as Barsa, so they used to passive passing meted that is easily defeated, casue as Guardiola said has no purpose without to much in to it just passing ball is not a game wining Barsa did pass and move forward so many other teams with less capable players did just passing without moving forward.
Next bigger problem is that more coaches found out that you could move faster with and without ball, on other ways.
And biggest problem is why not spread it around is because to counter it you just need fast players, zone defense and strength in midle. while to learn players to do it needs specific type of players, that require certain skill set. Way harder to learn and make hose players. While players like Xavi Injesta or Mesi could do great in any other tactic.
People to much overlooked that Barca biggest strength was in those end game passes and pre class in attack fast movement that implemented in other great teams as well. While those passes on center of pitch were just tactic of keeping the ball away not to receive goal.
