Olivia and Nathan here! Taipei, Taiwan continues to surprise us. This truly might be the most underrated food city in all of Asia. The street food options blew us away and it had neighborhoods packed with things to do. We're already planning a trip back!

Hey, just a heads-up—you might want to hold off on dining out or eating fried foods in Taiwan for a bit. There’s a major food safety crisis right now: a top supplier leaked over 1,300 tons of cooking oil contaminated with a Group 1 carcinogen (BaP) into the market. It ended up in major restaurant chains, supermarkets, and convenience stores. The worst part? Less than 4% of it was recovered, meaning most of it has already been eaten. It’s probably safer to cook at home or stick to oil-free meals until the dust settles!

FYI everytime you pronounce “XI” it’s supposed to sound like “SHI” like Shi-men-ding, not Ji-men-ding or Jin-yi (supposed to be SHEEN-yi)

The bad meats, uncooked food and water are the culprits for all the sickness you both got.

To get a yammy taste of carcinogenic oil BaP Benzo a pyrene? It is almost present in every food.
@qweszxcqazescTaiwan has a wide variety of food, which I think is great. I also hope to see the top ten recommended seafood, hot springs, or mountain foods in Taiwan.❤🎉
@lokichen873Hey! Thanks so much for the great video! I just have a quick question: what time of the year did you visit?
I’m thinking about visiting at the end of September, but I’m a bit unsure because of the humidity. I have a medical condition, so I need to be careful about that. I’d really appreciate your advice. Thanks! 😊
the claws machines looks like straight up scams
@Fernandosampaio_Your over-the-top American pretentious performance makes me want to vomit.
@kamel3dAs a taiwanese and someone who has traveled all over asia I understand why so many people like taiwan. its very diverse, if you like china come to taiwan, if you like japan come to taiwan... The people are extremely friendly and very kind and considerate aswell. The food is great too because there is so many different types of foods there from all over. One thing I really enjoy is how it isnt touristy at all, and it feels very authentic and untouched in that way. I am weary of the future though because I dont want taiwan to become like japan where over tourism is a super big problem. Its a very unique place, and it has a little bit of everything. You cant come to taiwan and go without finding at least 1 thing youve enjoyed.
@YellowFunnyManI'd say these two places are also worth visiting

Finally Visiting this wonderful country this November. Based on your footage (and that of others) I'll carry out a gnarly fast to prepare my gut before I head out. 😋 Thanks!
@DocNando9:41 You have really nice hair!
@sdlock83The illnesses are why I wouldn't travel that far with a baby. Idk, can't like this cause I'd kind of be endangering a child by supporting. When she is bigger, I can support.
@zmajoljupkaMy parents immigrated to Sydney from Taipei in 1990, I literally have no clue why we left (they said it was because studying was too stressful for kids) but only if they accepted me for doing what I love to do then all will be fine. I want to move back to Taipei because of the food and convenience 😂❤
@jennytai88I'll take the sweet savory nougat crackers for $7 USD ($10 CAD)
(Not cheap) but must try.
Nice video, but Taiwan has a helluva lot more to offer than Taipei and its night markets. There are night markets all over Taiwan and so much more. The makers of this video never seem to stop eating! I'm surprised they're not much fatter ! The cities of Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and of course Hualien. The mountains and the beautiful East Coast...These guys barely scratched the surface...
@ostevoostevo1592Wife trama dumping and dude is like anyway back to pancake
@imaflymydroneatitOMG ! Your baby is sososo cute ❤
@蔡蔡-z3vTaipei looks fine but holy hell your kid is adorable <3 <3
@PixoshiruTaiwan is such a wonderful country for visitors!
@Victoria-y3q1bThe bao/dumpling was my favorite things to eat in Ximending, ate there 3 different mornings while I was there last Feb. The lady was super nice and struck up a conversation with her (I'm M.I.T. lived in the US for 40+ years and still have the command of Mandrin Chinese).
@michaell6995We went in 2018 and it was really awesome 😎.
@UnkkoPatTaiwan is great. I want to go back so badly.
@kylewilliams3031Great editing! -making me really hungry.....
@yenmj8192Don’t go to claw machine shops that have no kids playing inside, that’s how you know
@TheJelloashI go to Taiwan usually 2 or 3 times a year to visit my girlfriends family and have been doing so for over 10 years.
I absolutely hate it. People just stare ! I smile, nod and say hello yet no response !!! I find Taiwanese people RUDE AND ARROGANT !!! That's based off my REAL LIFE experience not some TikTok or Social media rubbish. Have a good day. Thanks 👍
missing home🥲
@ericlo6434Why Everyone Is Suddenly Visiting Taiwan ?? that is just the wrong question and misinformation.... assumes a claim is true without providing evidence ... that is called A loaded question,,,, you are such a di*k to use these manipulative headline tactics.. black listed
@dada15aThe claw machine shops are widely regarded in Taiwan as money-laundering fronts for gang organizations, just so you know.
@FracturedHeadlinesWhat store is at 7:36? Looks cute for shopping
@Jtke9112The food is terrible here (worst in all of Asia) and the sidewalks are generally not walkabke with all the junk and scooters in the way.
But the people are wonderful and it’s located central to SE Asia and Japan.
NO, send them all back to thailand and japan ! Taipei is only for those who have suffered the wrath of Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Saigon and all the other busy cities in SE Asia's that are a pure nightmare of transportation, racism, scammers and HUGE language barriers !
@unlimitedadvance3531Who’s everyone that’s visiting Taiwan? I enjoyed it to an extent. The food scene to me was very basic. I’m a foodie and in my mind I was expecting a lot more. The flavors were so neutral. It’s likely because I just came from SE Asia, Japan, and Korea and so Taiwan’s dishes weren’t quite that umami.😅
@OlivierWannaphatWow. Taipei is Best city in Asia❤❤❤
Better than Tokyo
Better than Seoul
Better than Bangkok
The title is misleading. Nobody visits Taiwan, but Chinese Taipei only.
@clt2793not only is that place good for young people, there are also loads of historical sites and museums you can visit.
BUT, if you find a guava granny outside of the MRT entrance. She's not nice at all. I bought from her before. For some reason her minimum purchase was 2 bags for $100, wouldn't that be $50 each? I insisted I only need a bad, then she called me stingy and cheap. LOL
But as soon as I paid, she lifted the top bags and gave me 2 bags from the bottom of the basket. I thought, well how thoughtful of her for giving me the cooler ones (assuming the top were already warm under the weather). But when I looked closer, the guava was slightly warm, and looked like it had way less guava than the bags on the top.
in Taipei city you'll find a lot of these grannies and grandpas selling things. I wouldn't recommend buying foods from them, but guava granny is the only rude one I ever come across. But if you see anyone selling on a wheelchair, their stuffs aren't cheap. But it's not easy for them to make a sale either.
You’re baby is so beautiful.
@王智青-h1kI visit Taiwan to support Taiwan independence from Communist China.
@2226robinAs a Taiwanese, I approved this video
@ChiangKeeperno one is coming. paid from tourism authority?
@timc3919Those claw machine are just set to very hard mode cause some nerd max out there skill on it and the owner loses money if they make it easier for majority of people.
@sjowuf3243May as well enjoy Taiwan while it lasts, God knows when China will ruin it.
