Again, an artist that I have been meaning to get around to for some time. Sade and her song Smooth Operator. This has been suggested the most on Patreon, particularly at times when I am reacting to 80 music. I had never heard of Sade before other that when people have been suggesting her. One thing I will say is that every suggestion was for Smooth Operator. I am not sure if she is a one hit wonder or if this is her biggest song but Smooth Operator is the only suggestion I have seen so far.

💯 80s Miami sound. It's "the islands" sound (Caribbean) tailored for an American ear. With worldwide appeal. But yeah ...this would have been a staple in Miami clubs.

Seeing Sade's set at Live Aid (on TV) was the first chance many of us had to see and hear total brilliance, style and magic as a performer. I'd never seen anyone wear a baclkless polo neck before!
Others have suggested Is It A Crime. I'd recommend her perfornance of that and Your Love is King, at Live Aid, 13th July 1985.

When you hear the beautiful melodies and singing on songs from the past such as this one, it makes you realize how much most of today’s music pales in comparison. We had such great variety then. I feel blessed to have lived through it.
