Who Gets To Enjoy The World Cup?
Video Overview & Insights
Tickets for the 2026 World Cup are so expensive that FIFA might leave many unsold. The cheapest tickets that were made available cost $60 — and were offered in limited supply. The average seat at the final costs nearly $11,000, dwarfing the price of attending any World Cup prior. And the most expensive seat at the final reportedly costs nearly $33,000, as of May 2026.
Do you think the World Cup has become something only the rich can afford?
Football has long been thought of as the sport of the common person, but with these prices, the elite are really the only football fans who can afford to attend. And so, the World Cup has become just another symptom of global income inequality. If football is really the "world’s game," who can still afford to be part of it?
#WorldCup #Inequality #Inflation
Yeah, this makes me sad, but it's a part of a broader trend of in-person entertainment targeting the millions of rich people who can afford to drop $30,000 to take the family to a sports event or a Taylor Swift concert or a weekend at Disneyland. And there literally are tens of millions of such people in the USA alone. Why? Because lots of people are becoming very rich, so experience spending for concerts, sports, and the like gets bid up into the stratosphere. This isn't a problem of billionaires. They don't fill the giant stadiums. It's a problem of multi-milionaires, who do! You can't go far without tripping over an American with a net worth in eight or nine figures. Your typical Starbucks will have like 10 at any one time. And add to that the fact that income inequality is decreasing worldwide, meaning that though Americans are getting richer, the rest of the world is getting richer faster than the Americans are. The world is catching up and in some cases surpassing America. So Americans who are used to being able to afford a Disneyland vacation for the family are finding themselves priced out by all the rich Mexicans and Chinese and Europeans who also want Disneyland tickets. And it would be crazy to not want the world to get richer! This price explosion of event ticket prices is just the natural outcome of good news. Now, not everyone is catching this wave which is turning hundreds of millions of people into multi-millionaires. For us, there is the internet and consumer products. We get to watch the World Cup in 4k on very big and beautiful TVs whose price dropped 95% in the last 15 years. That's something that even a third world restaurant dishwasher can afford to do for the first time in 2026. It's because TVs are not scarce, and broadcast data isn't either. Only inherently scarce things like seats in a stadium are being made expensive by the growing affluence of so many normal people around the world.

yes, start explaining why so many yellow cards are going around give red card straight,,, along with oscar awards to player with best acting for injuries and why fifa is becoming more like WWE in its every match as players are grabbing players rather passing the ball

Trump is a business man what do you expect??
@k.wainainagive them gladiator and breads
@CurlyVietI got tickets early, and through a lottery. Was in a section close to the pitch and was so excited to finally attend a World Cup game. But the people around me weren’t fans or passionate about the teams. The section was quite boring. The real fans were in nosebleeds and you could barely hear their drumming or chanting. I went to a fan festival and the crowd was amazing, with so many passionate fans who knew the players, chants, everything. FIFA’s greed is compromising the atmosphere. The people who can afford the seats are boring at best.
@kekiki500Don’t waste your money, soccer is boring. If in Dallas go see the Rangers, if in Houston go see the Astros. Professional baseball, money well spent 🎉
@The69bomberoIf 200 humans control somethibg like 90% of the worlds wealth, what would you expect?!
@CollyDooThe enshitificatuon of sports
@OhampionI watched my first World Cup (over TV) when I was 8 and attended a match in Chicago during the 1994 World Cup on a $30 ticket. I would not pay the current prices, but will watch over TV. FIFA should be ashamed of themselves for prioritizing profit over making football a game for ALL
@andregan3223It's for those who can afford the time, money, and energy at the stadium. Period.
@androidsupremeEat the Rich
@Mars-j6w4nGreed.
@MYInteriorArchitectIts on tv. I'm good.
@chrisallen766I watch for free on tv.
@grbadalamentiI never paid such stupid prices for football tickets and never will.
@theshadowman1398Buy big tv, take subscription HD+ , order food online, enjoy your match in tv. Remaining money invest / put for renovation of your house
@hashermohammedOh by the way...HEY HEY WORLD...CANADA IS ELBOWS UP...WE ARE COMING FOR THE CUP....WE STAND ON GUARD...ALL GOALS ARE BARRED...GO CANADA GO
@calneitz3681I quit going to concerts even because of the way they price to take all they can from us. There is no program that cannot be set up to give you a set price for each seat. If they can't they need a different job. It is pure corruption to the public from the ultra rich grabbing all the money they can and we keep giving it. This whole idea of algorithmic pricing is corruption and greed we need to stop.
@calneitz3681It took a little longer than other sports but eventually the Greed of FIFA finally caught up and took over. Just like everything else.
@videosandstuff7328Makes no sense, but if the demand outpaces the supply, then the final tickets for FIFA 2026 will cost 11k+. Only solution, make a bigger stadium with more seats.
@CommandoMasterFIFA is a mafia.
@megacide84I'm watching on TV, and my phone.
@BreadManeThey started at $127 but you would have to agree to buy them without knowing which teams were playing.
@monos70the best way to fight back against this greed is to just boycott all these sporting events. If enough of us did a non-essential spending boycott, it wouldn't be more than a few months before they would beg us and do anything to get us back in. Then you hold out for a few months longer and really make them sorry.
@bennym8218It’s not all fifa. Yes the tickets were high. But it’s the d-bags who bought them of fifa to resell.
@thechameleon77Seem to be filled stadiums in the vids of the games
@jreifsnyder2225This is the way of the world. It's been the case for many years. All massive sporting events command top $ ,and it's only going to get more expensive.
@bigbangger998Gotta pay,for the turf somehow . And the bribes
@martinkelly5804So, FIFA thought, we need A LOT MORE MONEY. Where are the biggest suckers and frivolous, wasteful spenders? USA! Here we come
@jtwilliams8895This shit is nuts! And these prices don’t even include the insane entertainment taxes that municipalities charge these days. But nothing is going to change if people fill these stadiums.
@jtwilliams8895EAT THE RICH 😋
@MarxismWillWin-g5sTHOSE GIANT BANKS SHOULD LOBBY THE PRESIDENT TO SIGN A DECREE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE A LARGE LOANS BEFORE THE WORLD CUP BEGINS !! IT WILL BE A VERY HEAVY FEDERAL CRIME OF NOT TAKING A LARGE LOAN FROM THE BANK AND ATTEND THE WORLD CUP !!!
@ronaldchua9712Or you can just not care about organized sports.
@RememberPalestineOnly a idiot would attend with those prices
@paulcampbell3497I don’t think we should follow along and call it dynamic pricing
It should be called manipulative pricing
But the billionaires are our friends. Just ask the maga morons. 😂
@David-v6q3sstop buying crap and they will get the message lol
@go2hell616Better spend money just necessary commoners level not corruptions control big names western areas. Just look at Asia, Arab and African, those are deserve value human life as business not authority corruptions and nobility madness
@arocomisgamusclademork1603lottery winners
@FloridaMan69.Honestly though....I can't believe people are still watching.....to me sports like football are considered boomer entertainment.
@Ny-kelCameronThey even impacted or RUINED the very game for capitalism: ‘hydration’ breaks to break up halves into smaller halves and create more room for ludicrous advertisements. These people are the literal equivalent of war criminals for football. They committed crimes against the game.
@the.big.fat.wolf.originalI think Fifa found a bunch of 50 ordinary broke people from every nation, placed them at their nation’s games, and instructed the director to show them creating the illusion that each nation has a solid participation from its true fans
@the.big.fat.wolf.originalIf they jack the price by 10x then you gotta boycott it up til 90% to make it even.
The problem here, is FIFA raised it by 50x, but people are still giving more than 2% expected attendance.
It's amazing how people with more money is less capable of voting with math.
I wouldn't mind a video on how referees decide when to issue Yellow or Red cards. I've seen players literally tackle their opponents and the ref doesn't even react, and then someone gets a Yellow card for what looks like a minor infraction. I'm a casual fan and I'm baffled by the ref calls at the World Cup.
@NelleBligh333But but, as a millionaire it's so boring to gradually work their way up.
They need their money doubled each year atleast. Otherwise it's simply not viable enough to sell your soul.
So don't wince.. Work harder and give them your money!
The biggest stupidity is the 60 day wait period to get my money from the tickets I sold. Who in the world takes 60 days to wire money!
@ivanmarusic9740Here in México games go from 1.5k to 6k usd. Less than 1 percent of the population can pay for those prices.
FIFA Made a worldcup in México but mexicans were not invited to join 😢
