Which Nintendo Switch Should You Buy In 2026

I was leaning toward a Switch Lite since it reminds me of my PSP, PS Vita, and DS, but I think spending a bit extra on the Switch OLED makes more sense since the OLED screen is already built in instead of swapping the Lite’s LCD for an OLED screen. I prefer playing handheld on the go and the Switch 2 feels too big for portability. Should I wait for the Switch Lite 2? :)

hi! i'm in need of an opinion. i'm torn between a switch OLED and switch 2. main purpose for it is going to be playing alone whenever i'm free (minecraft, tomodachi life, indie games), as well as occasionally playing with friends (mario kart, etc.). i do mind the bigger price tag of the switch 2. would switch OLED work just fine as a casual gamer?

Have never owned a game machine. I have an almost 9 year old and recently tried the switch 2 at our local library. It convinced me to get one to heal my inner child and bond with my daughter. My boss has the switch lite and it’s soo cute. Now im slightly undecided.

not sure if you'll see this comment but I'm wondering what you think is the best for wanting good battery life but also good visuals. I want to play the new switch 2 games but the battery life seems concerning. do you think this is a problem? Is the switch 2 worth getting for someone like me? im between the 2, OLED and lite. I don't want to be behind that I can't get new interesting games but I just want a calm experience that looks and feels good. I will mostly play handheld but id love to still be able to play tabletop mode.

Have the OLED and Lite. I love the screen on the OLED and it definitely has the best overall experience of fhe Switch 1s. I picked up my Lite as a companion. Its the Turquoise model and only paid $100 for it in like new condition. I think it is the best overall deal if you dont care about playing on the tv. I am really impressed with it and think it is highly underrated!

There really is no benefit in the OLED over the 2, besides being smaller and having better battery. It's not much cheaper yet it's much, much less capable.

bought oled a month ago, and its fantastic! its really portable, i can put it in my pocket and go! it's also very light! the battery life is actually massive, while playing 2d games it lasts me 10-12 hours! the only concern here is actually a screen... its oled and all but it have some strange grainy texture. as i have a poor eyesight i hold it pretty close to my face and see all these.

I’m getting ready to buy my first Nintendo ever haha. I found a deal at Costco for a Switch 2, 256GB memory card and 12 months of the online membership for $520. Is this worth it? And also any games I should try would be appreciated.

I just wanted a switch lite with a bright OLED screen. That syncs save games from my docked switch. Sadly, never came to happen

Buy a Switch 1 if you never want to play any new release games ever again. It's weird this is even a debate.

When I upgraded from a 3DSXL, I started with the Switch Lite. Man I played the devil outta that thing and took it everywhere when I traveled. It was great. I never experienced stick drift. I upgraded when the OLED came out and have no plans to move to the 2 anytime soon. There isn't any real improvement to my old eyes, and there aren't any games I play that I'm locked out of. Once the 2OLED comes out, I'll make the jump. Usage: 80% Docked / 20% Handheld.

I still have no clue what I should get, Im young with no job, and only about $1000 to my name, so I can't risk getting something that wont work for me. I mainly plan on getting a switch for Tomodachi life, and maybe animal crossing, and maybe something else later on. I doubt you'll see this, but if you have any recommendations to a relatively new gamer, it would be highly appreciated!

After having an switch oled again latches and fsr its an easy lass for switch 2 and holding the switch 2 and all graphics and lcd and 1080 just dont look right, my phone is an oled lhone galaxy and can hit 120hz so i game on my phone and my switch oled and i just got a crkd grip for my oled and it makes gaming alot mkre comfortable!!!! Playing games like smash ultimate in 60fps its hard to pass with the oled screen!!! Dbd in its 9.6.0 patch made me delete it off steam permanenetly and comparison, raw power doesnt always mean better,raw power is becoming lame depending on a.i. to upscale images which the switch 2 does and the oled,lite annd original switch dont, thats another downgraded,im happy with my oled and for 200 it felt more exciting then holding the switch 2!!!!! Love how it uses its own native resolution and doesn't depend on a.i. to do so!!!! Oled is becoming mkre better then at launch games have improved and it was worth getting again!!!!!!

As someone who plays only in docked mode.....I dont see the need to upgrade yet to switch 2 from switch 1. not a single game worth it yet either. heck im happy with wii and wii U games. reconnected the n64 a few days ago lol.
