Every few years, countries around the world compete in global rankings to see which nation is deemed to have the best school system in the world. Schools in Asia often get the best results, and other countries like Estonia and Canada are also highly praised. But in many parts of the world there are often huge barriers to getting children into the classroom at all, such as poverty, climate change, and war.

Singapore’s education system is very a well resourced distillery that is very narrowly focused on producing high grades with those who can’t keep up being distilled out.
The result is a social price of underdevelopment of the discarded that doesn’t show up in any official metric.
I wonder how many other systems are similar? I would assume that many other Asian countries are similar.

Please ignore Singapore, Hongkong (China), South Korea, and Japan.
They are bred differently and they constantly remind us we people aint the same. Their average kids are more mature, well behaved, and disciplined than average adults from the rest of the world.
Even immigrants from those countries come to the US, they rarely commit crimes. Their children continue excelling in schools. Whats scary? These people are mostly the bottom feeders back in their countries. Thats why they migrated to the US or elsewhere because they couldn't compete with the local people. Yet, they are much more disciplined than American people in the US.

Education is kind of link to culture while reverse is also true.
I saw some video point to Finland education. But be remind that most of them are white and their parents are under their own 'cuture'. if you do the same, like in UK, now so many muslims and religious students. it might won't work as it is. it is not about 'education' system anymore anyway.
If you are a rich people, everywhere are good for your kids, But for most common people , I think Asian education is the best one. Everyone can afford and get a Undergraduate degree, You can choose every major and it is ez to finish it.

@williepetermandihinaIs that a serious question? Most advanced degrees like MBAs are nothing more than a glorification of greed. You are trained to maximize profits, soup up financial statements, cut corners at the expense of quality, etc. Boeing is a classic example. Innovation is costly, , so Boeing kept its basic design for over 50 years, tweaking it to accept more efficient engines, resulting in two catastrophic crashes. You need STEMs, not fancy MBAs, which is easily replaced by AI. But I am speaking to the wind, as these inept executives who control the company are ultra-MBA-schooled. In China, MBAs are second fiddle to engineers and scientists. You have to prove yourself as a STEM before you become an MBA. That is the secret sauce, which is why China will eventually dominate the world in tangible business, not financial paper shuffling.

@mixedgemsPisa tests are flawed. The Chinese choose the schools - the best ones, and in Germany some bad schools have been chosen in the past. Of course the British private schools are excellent, but are not selected. British state schools are focusing more on woke issues than traditional subjects nowadays. However, this was stiil a good and informative video.

@Meryl-ok1ixI was born and raised in Singapore, I got the education system there & currently I’m living in UK but honestly the education system here has lots of catching up to do. The teachers are excellent and the support is amazing.
@shasi_limbuWhere 'cleverness' (or in other terms, instruction, logic...) is an absolute needed ressource (no oil...), where input into education is seen as the most important: Estonia, Singapore, Taiwan, Finland for instance.
