When should I take a pregnancy test?

If you have any suspicions of being pregnant, of course you want to know as soon as possible, is it positive or negative. The best time to take a pregnancy test is when that day comes that you should have started your period and you didn't. That's the soonest that most home pregnancy tests will be able to give you a reliable result. There is a two week waiting period, especially if you're trying to conceive, you probably researched it and found out you ovulate about mid-cycle and you're fertile for five to six days out of each month, five days leading up to ovulation and on the day of ovulation. If you time things just right and you're looking forward to finding out if you're pregnant or not, the two weeks following are just kind of a waiting game. If you take a pregnancy test sooner than your period should start you might get a negative result but it could be falsely negative. It's best to just wait until your next period to start, if it doesn't then take a test. If that one is negative then wait another week and if you still haven't started your period at that point then take another test, hopefully if you're trying to have a baby, it's positive. At that point you should pick and call an OB provider of your choice and make your first prenatal appointment. If it's negative and you've had a history of irregular or missed periods then talk with your doctor and they can decide if further investigation or treatments are necessary for you. My wife took a test at 4:45 PM came back negative took one in the morning came back positive!

What if we were in pull out situation still possible I could get pregnant? Hope you answer me drive me nuts now. @bullfrog1431Hello MoneyLoveAlexis! It's Nurse Dani. I recommend taking a home pregnancy test on the day that your doctor instructed. If it's positive, congratulations! Be sure to follow up with your doctor's office and they'll set up your first prenatal appointment.
Ā If pregnancy is in question, it's not normal to administer contraception in any form (pill, shot, etc), especially if you did not express the desire to receive another dose.
I also recommend calling your doctor's office and verifying that the injection you received was indeed the depo shot. Your doctor's office will be able to give you the most accurate information about what was done and answer your questions best based on their knowledge of your situation.

IntermountainMoms I commented on another post about this haven't got a reply but I am really worried... I first got the depo shot aug2013, and got it every 3 months after. but in aug2014 I never went back to get another shot... I didn't have a period at all while on the depo shot not even spotting. I finally got my cycle back nov1st-nov4th which is normal my period would always be 3 to 4 days. we'll 2 weeks after that I had spotting mon,nov17th through wed,nov19th it ranged from brownish to light pink to red and clear? me and my boyfriend had sex nov7th-nov13th we used the pull out method. however I went to my doc Nov 22nd told her everything she gave me a preg test and said it came out negative. told me to take a homebpregnancy test the coming up friday, then the friday after (I haven't taken one yet)... then she had a nurse come in and give me the depo shot. .. is that normal?
