After they destroyed one of the best inner city school systems with forced bussing, everyone with kids that could afford it left (black and white).
Cleveland. The mistake by the lake. The CLE. Believeland? I don’t know about that one. But here we are in one of America’s former finest cities. There’s a chance you’re thinking about moving here one day, or maybe just visiting, or you’re just curious about the place.
I used to live in highland heights. How is it there now because I moved out 3 years ago
It’s a city with a big stigma as being run down and crime ridden. We’ll talk about that. But to be the most helpful about Cleveland, and for you to know where you should live here, we’ll gloss over the different parts of town and show you the good suburbs, the shitty side of town, of course downtown, and where the middle class lives. Generally, the west side of Cleveland is the safest part, where there’s a lot of middle class folks with some crime and a some run down areas. Downtown is getting safer and they’re improving it, but it’s still sketch in many areas. The east side is really rundown and full of crime and poverty. And the far outer ring suburbs are where it’s the safest, where all the rich people live.
Shaker doesn't border the burb, east Cleveland by the way. Good luck moving to warmer climate, particularly the real estate prices.

@zythr99Cleveland has alot of really good people , the women are easy to talk to and incredibly approachable and cleveland has beautiful women, plus with people not having alot of money everybody is more understanding about things like car problems , no heat. No running water. So it works both ways . Id say the WORST is the ROADS .. cleveland is a good city it has many many cultures also

@user-sc1es4wz4gCleveland is a gem. Like any city, their are pockets of bad, but this city has changed a lot in the past 10-15 years. East Cleveland is probably the least favorite for obvious reasons, but Shaker Heights, Beachwood, Lyndhurst, Euclid, and Cleveland Heights are huge suburbs of the East side that people move top. The worst part of the east side is its so far away from all highways. West I feel just has much more easy access to fun things compared to the east side. All museums are on the east side. West side has bad spots like Bellaire, Clark-Fulton and the dreaded camera speed trap Linndale. Overall Cleveland is an affirdable city that has hit rock bottom and is making improvements.

@BunneRabbGrew up in Cleveland and left for California in my early 20's. Most of my friends back there are alcoholics or really overweight. Don't even have the desire to visit there anymore. It's okay I guess.

Look at every city that was run by the mob. Once the feds took them out they become war ridden third world slums. Thanks federal government for ruing all our great historical cities. @kathysobczyk5377Been living here since 2016. It's a blast and I absolutely love downtown and Lakewood. I don't think this guy has a clue what he's talking about. The east and west coast cities are much worse and more drug infested.

@michaelmcarthur2647The Flats were really sketchy in the late 70s—early 80s. It was worth risking yer life to see bands at the Pirate’s Cove, tho.
I have heard talks they there is a plan to give the lakefront a complete overhaul to make CLE more like Chicago’s lakefront. Chicago has the second largest stretch of continuous beaches— second only to Rio. All open to the public.

Born in 1961, went to Catholic school till 5th grade. My parents moved us kids to North Royalton, a 3rd ring suburb of Cleveland in 1972 because they felt forced bussing was coming (it did in 1980).
I've lost count of the amount of supposed "come backs" Cleveland was making. It NEVER works. What a sad, worn-out joke.
Cleveland Public Schools threw a party when high school graduation rates in the city rose to hit 50%!!!
I have lived in Strongsville, also a third ring suburb, for 39 years. The ONLY thing keeping me here is my high paying auto industry job, which numbers are shrinking for many reasons. I'm SO GLAD my factory is on the Parma side of Brook Park Road so that I don't pay city tax to Cleveland! Ha-Ha!
When I retire in 2-3 years I'm moving.
