Poetry is words. Worsd have a certain cuality, melody, rhythme. Most of these actors cannot even transmit poetry. In other occation no words are necesary, but silent acting.

From Stanislavski's teachings, we branch out into the American schools of Method Acting, where three of his most prominent disciples—Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, and Sanford Meisner—each developed their unique interpretations and methodologies, shaping the future of acting in distinct ways.

First, we delve into Lee Strasberg’s approach. Strasberg, often referred to as the father of Method Acting in America, placed a strong emphasis on emotional recall and sensory memory. He believed that by drawing on their own past experiences and emotions, actors could achieve a deeper, more truthful connection to their characters. This intense focus on personal experience and inner truth became a hallmark of Strasberg’s technique, influencing countless actors and leading to the establishment of the Actors Studio, where his methods continued to be taught and refined.
Next, we explore Stella Adler’s contributions to Method Acting. Unlike Strasberg, Adler placed less emphasis on emotional recall, instead advocating for the power of imagination and the importance of understanding the text. Adler’s teachings encouraged actors to deeply analyze scripts, understand their characters’ motivations, and bring their imaginations to life on stage and screen. Her approach offered a more external and analytical pathway to authenticity in performance.

Finally, we examine Sanford Meisner’s unique perspective on Method Acting. Method acting is a whole lot. most times I ask, if we are supposed to act in movies, theatrical productions OR live. I think Acting in its own frame of imagination and reinterpretation is absolutely not correct in the sense that it needs to be reinterpreted which leans on the recreational process of emotions. I think acting should be more of living... in this sense, it doesn't really have to be believable but natural. because there are simply no standards for believability in Arts. if an actor becomes the character in the process of finding oneself and purpose then it flows naturally.
To me an actor needs to understand that he doesn't need to really understand the character he is trying to interpret because he is simply not a perfect being that knows all. but he is in the process of trying to understand himself which can be seen in his interpretation and not in reinterpretation. in fact, an actor has to live his life in the moment of not knowing what the end result is going to be even if the script tells us what the end will be. Naturally no one on earth really knows or understands oneself. so, trying to understand oneself in the process of performing is very relevant. this helps the character to not just say his lines but also listens to the outcome of his own behavior, lines and performance. just my thought though

I graduated from NYU in 80 and studied with Stella Adler - whom I loved more than my own mother - but would never presume to talk down about any other school of acting. I've used some Strasborg and Meisner exercises in certain roles and scenes and find that all have valuable lessons to teach - but to me, the most valuable gift is one of SCRIPT INTERPRETATION. To decode the words on the page into convertible, doable actions and reasons for taking those actions builds a roadmap to improvise from. One can only free themselves from technique after you've mastered that technique.

This is all good but for a better idea of the whole kettle of fish read The Method by Isaac Butler. The Best take away I got from that was how to define the term Method Acting and how the development of acting techniques, focuses and what actors wanted change from the LAB in the 1920s to what DeNiro did in Raging Bull. Read that book.

@Durwood71I thought drawing from your own emotions based on experiences was the basis for all acting, not just method acting. I don’t know how else an actor can be convincing. I guess I learned something new.
