I never had a cell phone nor laptop in the military. Army has gotten so weak and Woke. Too easy.
@afrosamurai4465Compared to day 1 of marine boot, army is very relaxed?
@garydyer9825No freaking way. I had to be nuts.
@bobpratt5880I'm pleased to see that what might have been described as a Drill Sergeants 'Shark Attack' directed at Trainees getting off the bus on day 1 has been replaced by something more direct and useful. I never believed that demeaning the very individuals who volunteered and who presumably want to be soldiers was a great motivator. That doesn't mean that training can't be physically and mentally challenging.
@brianmcclure6702Ft. Dix NJ. BCT/AIT, 1977. Go ARMY!
@sojourner659January 1976 arriving at Fort Ord at 0100 and asking myself, what the hell did I get myself into. Six years later I was proud of having served and I still remember those years that shaped me for the rest of my life.
@Gus-g7fCrazy I was there unfortunately got medically discharged but glad I made the decision to try to enlist.
@leehenriksen40696 days
@ChrisPBacon1434It’s called day Zero.
@MichaelLynn-kk7poisn’t jackson the chillest place you can go to for basics
@Devkit.WOW that looks like it was when I went in 1987. That is child's play compared to watching the Marines. Two completely different concepts.
@morbid1Been nearly 30 years since I enlisted in the Army. When we arrived at Atlanta Airport, there were Drill Sergeants waiting, just as you see here. i didn't expect that. No regrets though. None.

@StevenHawkins-qf8nlI'm 66 and I went Air Force in 1983. I was married already and my wife's dad, a 22-year USAF veteran took me to the Greyhound. As I boarded the bus, he said "Kurt. Keep your mouth shut and your tailgate up!" That was great advice.
@kurtb84741/329 Ft. Benning home of the infantry. Good ole relackson jackson
@yolandagutierrez3801We got to Fort Jackson around 2 am on Memorial Day Weekend (early Saturday morning arrival). First thing we did was have a briefing, then they marched us over to the dining facility for a 3 am dinner. Veal. Bed was around 4 am, then up probably 5:30 am. Why? I don't know. It was memorial day weekend, so we did nothing until Tuesday other than watch movies in the Day Room.
@31MikeTo this day, I still remember standing in that same spot receiving that speech, in that same airport, to the same reception battalion, and I believe that was the same Drill Sergeant I met at the airport myself. The wildest 67 days of my life. Easily the most memorable. Will never take what I went through for granted, nor what I have, ever again.
@surreal9558My son just went through he’s first day in the basic training!
@tyraempire1983TWent to OSUT at Benning in 08, it was ALOT different. Sandhill type grunt.
@hawkinatorgamer9725I'm talking to a recruiter right now! Wish me luck!
@creeperhead8029Can't say that I enjoyed it but looking back at even 120th and meeting people who eventually became my friends in those familiar walls do bring great memories
@shalim4076My day 1, July 16, 1982, Fort Leonard Wood, E-4-3, Way Down in the Valley. WhoooHa!
@mrwes100There was a lot more yelling and screaming when I was at relaxin jackson, but good to see that there are still heros willing to raise that right hand, Hooah.
@chrismineburg1163Little different than when I went in back in 87'
@rrb4kids1This is nothing like I went in. Vietnam was over with and every Drill Sgt was a wearing a Combat Infantry Badge. Never ever heard such foul language in my life. You could never do anything right regardless of how good you were...All of that screaming was for one thing...build your lungs up...
@sfcjones2590Fort Knox 2005
@TC.....Summer of 1996 Ft. Sill bootcamp graduate. I get that this is from "Ft. Relax'n Jackson", but where is the smoke session - coughing up blood, crying, profuse swatting, sheer exhaustion? This is how you break someone down for a clean slate. No wonder our military is so soft these days...
@FloridaMan-1337goarmy made it look easy but when i went it was not like that
@ClippingVault676712 Feb. 1971, arriving at Lackland AFB at oh-dark-thirty and being screamed at getting off the bus. A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Drill/Training instructors are a too-often underappreciated assignment.
@barrygrant2907Go National guard.
@ghostofwhereiwasThought the Army had mountain goats in the thumbnail 😂 🐐
@Cam_88Rather than this crap, watch the vids of vets coming out the other end.
@tabo01I remember how I felt on day 1. I don't think time has changed that feeling.
@LB-ty6ksAll this just so they can do layouts in the motor pool everyday.
@JoeCabIf your going, give yourself a haircut before you leave home. They're going to buzz it off anyway.
@zippydoodaBack in '88, I don't remember being able to call home to say I made it to Fort Dix. 🤔
@cosettelaplante699Almost joined alas am not a U.S citizen. Only God knows.
@Christ-SideI was there almost 20 years ago i'd like to go back and tour the post again and see what's changed and what hasn't
@tcjohanson1boy, i can see allot changed since 2000
@JimBoB-s8hVet here. Joining was the best decision I made in my entire adult life. The success I had was with the foundation of the US Army training. It’s what I always carried with me thru my career as a LEO. Never be a follower always be a leader.
@ceemerc691I got to ft jackson at 4 in the morning on June 1st 2009, i hardly remember the first day
@A_Donglegoarmy choosing relaxin jackson for their videos is a good move on their part
@dialogueslolI went through that. When we are young we are pretty tough.
@scottjohnson3996WHAT THE.... no shark attack? Really?
