"What is Apoptosis?" The Apoptotic Pathways and the Caspase Cascade
Video Overview & Insights
This 3D medical animation explains the functioning of the extrinsic and intrinsic apoptotic pathways. We start off by taking a look at the important role apoptosis plays in growth and development as well as removing DNA damaged cells. Then we see how activation of the caspase cascade occurs in each external and internal signalling pathway. Lastly we get a glimpse of cancer cells and their ability to block apoptosis.
Round of applause. This is the next generation of medical/molecular biology content. Well done.

it’s my favorite video on youtube now hands down. it’s those kind of video that make you rethink why a cell is actually born n shi

@robertedson2374Best video that explained apoptosis perfectly in details ❤
@nishatmeem170This video provides an excellent explanation of the intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic pathways, addressing a fundamental biological process with a visually striking and educational approach. 3D animation helps to understand how apoptotic pathways are activated by external signals (such as the interaction of death ligands and receptors, for example Fas/FasL) and internal signals (such as DNA damage). Particularly relevant is how the molecular mechanisms that culminate in the activation of caspases, the enzymes responsible for fragmenting the cell into apoptotic bodies that are subsequently phagocytosed without inducing inflammation, a characteristic, are highlighted. A highlight of the video is the analysis of how cancer cells evade apoptosis, blocking these pathways to survive and proliferate. This aspect underlines the clinical importance of understanding these mechanisms, since many modern oncological therapies focus on reactivating apoptosis in tumor cells.
