What Happens When You Quit Salt?
Video Overview & Insights
Should you be on a low sodium diet? What actually happens to your body and brain when you reduce salt?
Get this outdated information off of YouTube. We know that low sodium diets are actually worse for all health outcomes, and raises ALL CAUSES of mortality. You only need to limit sodium if you're have poor kidney function or some other sensitivity. The body will excrete excess Sodium just fine as long as you're drinking enough water, and your blood pressure will stay normal as long as you have enough Potassium. GTFO of here with this harmful misinformation. Especially these days when the summers have been hot with high wet-bulb temperatures, you need to consume plenty of sodium.

Salt is essential, it’s very good for you. It’s a complete lie to say it’s not.

Lie, lie, lie. Eating too many oranges in one sitting will kill you. Salt does not cause high blood pressure or water retention. Use salt on your food to taste. When doctors tell to limit your salt they want you sick. How can they get rich off of a healthy society? He is right about the lack of salt not being unhealthy. These doctors who claim that salt causes high blood pressure and heart attacks better warn hospital emergency rooms to stop giving patients that saline solution when they are having a heart attack episode. The saline solution is comprised of salt. I love my anchovies on pizza and after eating that pizza I drink a lot of water then I pee all that excess salt out of my body. No fluid retention....A lie.

I came to in my local hospital, extremely confused. Apparently I had two seizures. One at a friends house, and one in the MRI machine at the hospital. It turns out I was hyponatremic as a result of drinking way too much water & skipping meals. They put me in an induced coma just in case I had another seizure I guess. I have high BP so I will stick to a low sodium diet, but I won't go below that.

It's nothing to do with salt it's just most salty food is unhealthy without the salt
@yugiohftk22Red flag for this channel. Truth and lies. Very dangerous
@lightworker3693This is such an important topic. A lot of people don’t realize sodium isn’t the enemy—it’s about balance. Too little can actually cause issues just like too much, especially when it comes to hydration and nerve function.
@TheReboundGuyAll lies!
@llanochinges8244I can quit Salt by one decision
@ningdi_macYall are so wrong. Sodium is essential !!! Something essential wouldn’t be bad for you!
@benjamindecker4056errr...random muscle twitching happened to under my eye yesterday after I consumed some salt with my meal: I have not had salt for at least four weeks , as i was following one precept of the Paleolithic diet ie no salt, and i did not feel sick - I was fine until yesterday, now i feel just weird and tired and was unable to get a good nights sleep last night - so pretty much the opposite experience that what this guy claims - yes!
@chester-st7ieSalt is a toxic rock
@predator5686I dropped salt completely. Salt and sodium are different things. Sodium in whole food the body needs. Added salt and other sodiums are inorganic. I use to have a lot of documentation on this. Very old websites and kinda funny they arent around anymore in Google searches.
@Seven322-e5oYou need potassium and salt.
@jamespaquin1964The first symptom of a salt deficiency, Dr. Eric Berg. YouTube.
@markscarborough9313The system tells you to not eat salt because the system needs you sick!!!!!
@markscarborough9313This guy didn't even mention sugar. Sugar causes high blood pressure. Not salt. He must be getting his outdated information from CNN. Very little of what he said is true.
@AssNapkinEdFalse… everything is false in this

Monitoring how much salt you eat each day is key. Even small reductions can make a difference for your heart.
@wellbodisaloneIf you are on low insulin then kidney won't reabsorb that would cause low sodium in the serum ended up you have low plasma volume.
@pluzmediaSalt is necessary unlike sugar, if you don't take too much carbs and drink plenty of water then sodium is not a problem.
@pluzmediaThat's why it should be in moderation.
@JoyceWalker-f6dA very low-salt diet can be dangerous because sodium is essential for both the body and the brain.
Salt (sodium) is critical for:
• Maintaining fluid balance and blood pressure
• Proper nerve signaling and brain function
• Muscle contraction and heart rhythm
• Adrenal and stress hormone regulation
When salt intake is too low, it can lead to:
• Low blood pressure, dizziness, fatigue
• Brain fog, anxiety, irritability
• Headaches and poor concentration
• Increased stress hormones (adrenal strain)
• In severe cases, hyponatremia, which can be life-threatening
The brain is especially sensitive to sodium levels. Low sodium can impair neurotransmission, affecting mood, focus, and emotional stability.
This is especially relevant for:
• Physically active people
• Those who sweat a lot
• People under chronic stress
• Low-carb / fasting diets
Salt is not the enemy — imbalance is.
The real problem is ultra-processed foods, not natural salt used appropriately.
The goal isn’t low salt — it’s adequate sodium based on individual needs.
2300 mg is not the optimum range. it's the safe upper limit. if you shoot for this, you will go over the safe upper limit, which is virtually every american
@user-rv3jq6jy6yEach morning, I do 6 eggs and one steak. No junk food and no salt. I've been doing this for over 10 years. At 78, I feel great and I never get sick.
@andraschketl, dr.: You got addicted to salt and sugar, experiencing withdrawals. Every furather consumption seems to relief those, which is just illusory, because you stay addicted. Easy and painfree, permanent solution at the end of the paragraphs. You will feel incredible within days, good luck :)
I cut out junkfood aka processed food completely out of my diet years ago. Now my diet consists of mostly fried vegetables, raw fruit, nuts, eggs and the occasional ground beef/fish steak here and there. I never had any of the described symptoms of hyponatremia, completely the opposite, I could finally breath freely and my overall wellbeing increased dramatically. Clearly, because I cut out bad carbs at the same time too of course.
2300mg salt per day? I'f I'd do that, I'd be feeling like shit in a matter of days again. My hypothesis is, that our need for Sodium might me in the 30-80mg range per day, tending to be on the lower side of that. You could argue now, that people that do sports need more Sodium, because they sweat more. It doesn't work like that, our body will never excrete vital ressources by accident. Here my hypothesis is that your sweat just tastes salty because the body uses this extra route to get rid of the horrendous amounts we are used to consume.
Was it hard to change all this? If I'd had tried to white knuckle it by telling myself that salt and sugar are bad, I might be dead by now. This would have just raised the value of these industrials poisons tenfold, keeping my in the addictive cycle they start on first consumption: You get it in your system, the body tries to fight it off as quickly as possible, you get "withdrawals" aka your body trying to rebalance itself, and you mistakenly interpret the feeling of ease of these symptons, when you consume the next dose, as a relief. So you just get tricked into an endless cycle, that can be overcome easily with these books:
Allen Carr:
"Good Sugar - Bad Sugar"
"No more Diets"
Animals in the wild don't run around with salt shakers. But we do. Every meal is saturated with salt if we eat an American diet. If we focus mostly on whole foods, what we cook with them and put on them can knock our salt intake out of the ball field. We are accustomed to eating high salt foods. But experiments with rats showed that salt added to rat chow caused them to eat 30 percent more than the rats without salt in their chow. Our brains become wired to the taste of salt, and salt really improves the taste of all foods. And there is the trap. Food companies use salt and sodium to make us keep eating. It works. Ever eaten a whole bag of potato chips, cheese puffs or Fritos? There it is. We don't seem to get full when eating salty foods. Salt makes things softer. That is why they use it in hard water systems. When food is "soft" the stomach sensors aren't picking up the physical sensation as well, and this is just my opinion. I have not read that or heard that anywhere. My own experience. Food without salt makes me feel the food, and my appetite is affected to where I am not hungry or wanting to snack. I eat less. It is a bit of a challenge to find salt free products, but I have found several. Even low sodium does us no favor, because it is still full of salt. Just not as full.
@yellowbird5411Bullshit, I consume 12g of salt daily, and I am in a perfect condition. Not everyone needs the same salt intake. Well if you have hypertension, different story, otherwise consume as much as you like.
@positivevibes_ryou die without salt. so the answer is you die.
@reidkrayHigh salt is offset by twice as much potassium.
@Godblessed2Eat lots of salt and my blood pressure is 78/108
@pierrejeanesWhat if I get migraines from salt?
@queenkayla703Ital is Vital❤
@avatrastern107All salt is Bad stimulants. It is lies what they say about salt. If salt is natural chemical free food okay but not when added into your ingestion diet. Salt blocks the body up and affects organs and glands functioning at a optimal level.
@sondralee8539Found out I have low sodium. I was drinking too much water and not replacing my electrolytes. Be careful with that guys
@heavenlyseymour24Please read The Salt Fix, it is a book that completely changed my life! Salt is so much healthier than almost everyone realizes!
@Cultivatingjoy07When you quit salt you weigh less because your body secretes sodium
@ArronFrederick-u1lWhat?
So you saying that not ingesting something that pulls water from cells (destroying cells) lower the stress?!
NO WAY
