The stages of dementia are these, it’s very, very, simple. Were are friggin nuts!! Plumb out to lunch!! Not playing with a full deck, or a few bricks short of a wall! We never know what will happen. Every forty five minutes, all is brand new, ‘cause our ruined minds can’t remember more than that😮😊. Sorry y’all, but we can’t help it😥 I can tell y’all from bitter experience that this does indeed destroy your life and relationships. All my family ran away. Never saw any of them ever again either. Oh well, what can we say? Ain’t nothin’ for it. We just have to keep trying and hope for the best.😊

Hell, dementia has ruined your life and probably your family's lives too.
The future looks bleak.
All totally convenient to a Scubag like this.
We know what the outcome will be-
Death.
Otherwise known as job justification for Scum bags like this.
But there's a long road between diagnosis and death.
And we need to make that road as smooth as possible.
This is T. B. S.!!!😂😂😂
We need to avoid all the speed bumps and potholes.
But how?
Which stage is Trump in, 6 or 7?
What can we do about it?
Doctors can't help!
I think my dad is in stage 3 and im trying to get him into the doctor.. but its a real challenge
Their solution is to put your loved one in a nursing home or lock them up in a memory care unit.
We both know that all that does is move the problem to another location.
What was that i forgot
What you need is answers. What you need is solutions.
What you need is new techniques that work!
My mum had it, she ended up becoming abusive, paranoid, my brother recognised it and started moving to claim the entire inheritence.

This is terrifying. My mom constantly believes people are stealing from her. My cousin her niece and my brother. She believes scary scenes on television are real. The actors have passed already. I'm not looking forward to her forgetting who I am. That's bad enough. Thank you for the explanation

Wouldn't this assessment apply to any person as they age unless it happens at an early age. Everyone forgets things as they age.

My grandmother (another mother to me my entire life) is in stage 6, despite her doctor stating she "doesn't measure in stages", this has been so difficult for me because she has moments of extreme awareness but minutes later is trying to bury trash in the yard and slapping at people trying to help her (in fear of her falling) amongst many other odd things like boiling a single hamburger patty in a crockpot full of water to the brim and throwing away decades of family pictures because she doesn't recognize certain people anymore. I'm probably in denial because I am willing to quit my profession to live with her and help her day to day (she responds better to me than others) only because I don't want her to spend the end of her life away from her home of 60 years. I fear that assisted living and then a nursing home would traumatize her before she passes and I only want her to be the most comfortable near the end. Anyone have any advice? She's aware enough at this point (most of the time) that she would be distressed having to leave her home, but I am not power of attorney and my family (who loves her dearly) do not want anyone to have to sacrifice their livelihood to care for her until she passes because of the economy currently. I am at a loss, it would ruin my life to do this, but I love and respect her so much that I owe it to her to spend her last years comfortably and not in the presence of a foreign environment. I do acknowledge that having nurses around to check on her would be greatly beneficial. We all would be there every day but she cannot have her cats (I am adopting them) and that alone would be enough to cause her distress.

What are the stages of dementia? In this video, Debra goes over the seven stages model of dementia to help you better understand the condition you or your person will be facing. This model is taken from the Global Deterioration Scale (GDS) and can be used to estimate life expectancy and when life functions will diminish. It is important to understand that the GDS model is fluid and people may flow between or be in multiple stages at once. It is also important to note that deterioration begins years or even decades prior to the onset of symptoms. This portion of the disease spread is the pre-dementia stage and covers stages 1-3 on the GDS scale. Stages 4-7 are the dementia stages and are generally when cognitive impairment becomes debilitating. Each stage is listed below:
Stage 1 - No cognitive decline
Have to be prepared to take yourself out. Simple and convenient.
Stage 2 - Very mild cognitive decline or age-associated memory impairment (AAMI)
Stage 3 - Mild cognitive decline or mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
My husband was diagnosed after having shingles. He is now diagnosed with early onset alzhemiers, delirium, sundowners, and inflammation of the brain. He is only 52 plus he has leukemia
Stage 4 - Early dementia or moderate cognitive decline
Stage 5 - Moderately severe cognitive decline
Thank you,Debra I’m glad I came across your video. My father-in-law is 92 years old and he has dementia by what you’re describing. He is at six. He sleeps long hours and most of the time he wakes up in the middle of the night he gets dressed and he wanders around the house, but thankfully he does not go outside and also in the middle of the night he doesn’t bother going to the bathroom. He just pees on the carpet so I started putting pee pads. He doesn’t know my name, but I’m his only caregiver. I keep telling his sons that your father is deteriorating, but they are in denial and also my health is not that great either. I just want to know who can I contact to get some help for him and for me because it is the hardest thing I have done in my life at the age of 58
Stage 6 - Severe cognitive decline
Stage 7 - Very severe cognitive decline

@YoshiYoshedaVery informative video. How quickly do you typically jump from stage 6 to 7?
@ACChapsI wonder how many people have been poisoned by mold that was in their home, workplace etc.

@endlesslove7528How do you deal with that paranoia & suspicion? Today my MIL was convinced a group of girls came in her room and took something of hers. She couldn't tell us what they took or when but was really angry about it. We tried to tell her that she didn't have anything of value in her room that couldn't be replaced. Nothing we said could calm her--she was obsessed about it and no matter what we said, it just made her angrier. It's getting really hard to visit. From what you listed of the 7 stages, she must be in stage 6.
@janemartin229Hello Debra, I recently went to visit my sister who lives in another state, I hadn’t seen her for two or three years, but we talked on the phone regularly. I stayed at her house for a week or so, and was a bit concerned about how she had changed, in very subtle ways, she seemed vague at times, and I noticed that she repeated different things that had happened, she was disorganised, and couldn’t seem to make simple decisions about meals, where we were going each day, and even forgot the way to our other sisters house, who only lives a few miles away. She had also not had her hair done in quite a while, and she was always very fussy about her hair. My brother in law is still there, but I don’t know whether he is aware that anything is wrong, probably because he is always there. I also noticed that my sister relies on him heavily and doesn’t want to let him out of her sight for long. My dilemma is that I don’t know when the right time will be to bring it up with him, because at this stage, he probably won’t think there’s anything wrong. What do you think? And I would welcome comments from others.
@misalonghiSo sad. My mom has dementia and based on this info she’s between 4 and 5 and showing some of 6. She does care for herself. She lives in her trailer in our yard so my husband and I care for her basic needs. It’s really strange seeing how she has and is changing.
@sweetscraps56I used to know all 7 but I forgot😂
@Dingleberry4UWhat if a parent with obvious dementia refuses medical treatment of any kind because they don’t think anything is wrong with them but they think everyone else has the problem and should go see a doctor?
