I have been watching college football for 60 years. And this committee should not be favoring one conference like they do with the SEC. I know why they do.
They keep on thinking that the SEC is the greatest conference. Its not that way anymore. The way the college game is set up with transfers and NIL money its a different game now.
Look at last week. Western Kentucky probably the best team in the weakest or 2nd weakest conference goes to LSU and loses 13-10.
South Florida beat Florida when they were ranked.
Washington St went to Mississippi and almost upset them at their place. This is the same Wash. St. that lost by 45 points to North Texas St.
And lets not forget Tennessee having to go to Ohio St last year and got squashed like they did not want to play in cold weather.
To dismiss teams like BYU with just one loss is a joke. They went into a hard environment of Cincinnati who was ranked a few weeks ago, and beat them. But they don’t move up over Alabama who beat a non division 1 team of Eastern Illinois. They didn’t even play a Montana St or North Dakota St.
They earn zilch.
BYU should have been ranked over them.
Look at Oklahoma who a few years ago was a Big 12 team. And two years in a row they beat Alabama.

A&M has a 1 point victory against South Carolina that is 4-7. They have a 45-42 win against a 2-9
Arkansas team and gave up 527 yards of offense.
Bama has a close win against a 4-7 South Carolina winning 29-22. They also have a loss to a 5-6

Georgia has a close 24-20 win against a 3-8

Indiana had to have a miracle TD catch to beat a 5-6 Penn State.
The point is Utah shouldn't be punished for having their only close win of the season. The other 8
wins they have are by an average margin of 35.25 points.

The "eye test" argument should NOT be a major factor for the committee making decisions. It feels like it is just an excuse for them to put teams they like more ahead of more deserving ones. There is no resume-based argument for Notre Dame over Alabama, BYU, or Miami who all have some combination of wins against higher ranked teams, less losses, more ranked wins, etc. Ironically the only one of the three I think Notre Dame has a real argument for a better resume is Miami, but they lost to Miami head-to-head which shouldn't be ignored

Even with Oregon. The chairman said that the committee had been "waiting for a good result so we could put them where we think they belong," or in other words they just need an excuse to rank them higher, when a team like BYU actually has an arguably better resume than them, and is sitting FOUR spots below them. (Its actually very disappointing nobody seems to be addressing why they have a 1 loss power 4 school so much lower than the rest with similar resumes, because I really want to hear why the committee comes to that decision. Is it because of close wins? Instead they just wanted to pretend BYU didn't exist with that 2 loss graphic)

Also, they seem terrified of actually putting 2 Group of 5 teams on the rankings at the same time at risk of having to commit to actually rewarding a team like James Madison before championship week when they would actually rather have a team like USF or Tulane in the playoff

I understand I am screaming into the void as a member of the minority of fans that actually wants to see every team get a fair chance instead of all the big name brands in the playoffs, but it doesn't get any less frustrating watching the committee make these decisions without having any real justification for it other than vague criteria that allows them to do whatever they want

The fact that at 9:15 you show the 'bubble teams with 2 losses' and you don't include BYU tells you everything you need to know about ESPN's efforts to exclude as many Big12 teams as possible. Change the graphic to 'bubble teams' and include BYU. Problem is, BYU is ranked #11, but has an SOR above everyone listed on the graphic. Including OU, ND, and Alabama. BYU just doesn't fit into what the committee and ESPN are trying to do. Not to mention, look at Reece Davis's AP poll he submitted this week and you will see the SEC homer come out.
