We turned love locks from tourists into a new bell

Video Overview & Insights

Thanks to all these people that contributed to the new bell! Here are all their names:

Ironic letting the Bell be made by germans to replace a Bell stolen by germans 😂

You should open a store and sell locks, but make it known that you have the master key, and send someone around to pick the locks back up.

you could also use a pipe wrench, it doesn't require cutting, it will break the locking mechanism open , the part that prevents the lock from opening is actually pretty weak and can be forced open
Also, you can use a Knipex parallel pliers, or just vice grips, and twist the lock
You would be surprise how easily they can be forced open without totally breaking them or cutting and grinding them
Those are not security locks

The lock are usually bronze or brass and a steel ring. Sure not the proper alloys for a bell, but maybe the metal can be used in more direct way.

How did you?

I really want to see people practicing lock picking

I've seen this in many cities (the locks on bridges). I wonder why the city councils don't put up signs saying not to do it. Sure, some people will do it regardless, but I do think many people didn't know at the time of doing it, how bad it really is for the bridge / structure.

For some reason hearing the bell made me tear up ,,, but yea, bit disappointed the locks not being actually turned into a bell :p

This is so amazing guys 🥰

You jokingly mentioned the Lockpicking Lawyer in the last sentence, if I heard you correctly. Two comments on this:
1: Great reference! LPL is just great!
2: This might give locksport a new dimension: Picking love locks in Prague's historical sites as both a challenge for locksport enthusiasts and a means to clean up that trash! :)
Pozor / Attention! I don't know whether this would be legal in the Czech Republic, so before people try this, make sure you don't break the law - or at least be ok with any consequences.
My personal thoughts on the two most important lockpicking rules in this case: 1. Don't pick a lock you don't own (or have express permission to) - check! People have donated these locks to the community of Prague inhabitants and visitors! 2. Do not pick a lock you rely on - check! No one needs these locks for locking up anything any more!

This was great but my innocence was ruined in the end of the video lol.. I had no idea church bells works with a remote

Really amazing, for sure i will come to say hi when i will come to Prague

@faridh9988
@

So actually, you didn't. Ya just cut off all the locks and started a crowdfunding thing that was semi-related to the location they were hung from.

@Rad-Dude63andathird

Continue to get those locks cut and scrap them only to make money for all those lost bells. You're the countries newest national treasure

Yall could create a love lockpick monument

I would be terrified taking the bell to the top of the tower.

I don’t know why, but the second I heard the bell ringing, I started to tear up. Beautiful video. ❤

I don't get it... What is the connection from locks to the bell?

@G-Porch

ngl I'm a little disappointed that they have replaced huntchbacks with remote controls :/

@janet.snakehole

So many are pissed over this have no sense of common sense and their emotions comes first instead of respecting other people's land and history. Pathetic

I can assure you 50% had broken up, 40% are either divorced, 5% are waiting for a divorce and the other 5% had actually lost their partner through death and found a new one.

One reason I don't live in a city centre are loud church bells ringing very early every morning.

People! Don't buy love locks! They turn them into noisy church bells hundreds of years after the invention of the silent wrist watch.

You have made Prague a little better by not only removing and discouraging 'love locks' but also bringing a new bell to that breathtaking church. So proud of you!!

+Honest Guide Question...Why didn't you dudes have the bell made at a local Czech foundry???. I am pretty sure that the Czech Republic has a few around its boundary. Plus, a lot of local artisans who are capable of delivering the goods on these types of projects.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I love this story. Next time I go to Prague again, I will make sure I listen to the bell ring. Thank you.
