Every fall, we do a major pantry stock-up to prepare for the long Canadian winter ahead. In this video, we head to Costco and Wholesale Club to buy everything our large family will need for the next several months — from staples like flour, sugar, and oats to proteins, canned goods, and household essentials.

We spent around $3,000 this time, focusing on quality, value, and long-term storage so we can stay stocked up and skip as many store trips as possible once the snow sets in.

Wait!!! Grandson???? Grandkids? You look so young! Like someone in their 30's! Cheers to you

I don't need to waste money on buying Christmas lights, as I still have them.

We only invite immediate family members for Christmas.

Our clothes can still be used, so we need not have to waste money. Unless they have outgrown their clothes, then these are given to other family members who need them. Another option is to use it as a blanket/duvet.

Your distribution must be amazing, the prices are on par for main areas in Alberta Canada, on beans etc, way better for those bulk bags.

I really noticed the difference in your accent when you where talking to your hubby versus the camera. I don't usually notice your accent in your videos but talking to him it was really thick and obvious. Just shows how subconsciously we change ourselves in different situations lol

It is always interesting to hear what other families eat. Good luck from the UK. We have lots of different things here. For me it tends more to be things like fish, eggs, meat, potatoes kind of foods but that is because I am weird and don't even like sauces.

I squeeze my own organic lemons and put the juice into ice trays and freeze them. Each cube is about 2 tbsp of lemon juice and just pull out what I need. Its a bit of work up front for convenience later :)

Be careful with Neosporin/Polysporin. I actually developed an allergy to the Neosporin/Polysporin so I can’t use it. Despite what the commercials said, “Use on every cut, every time”, that is unnecessary. Just wash well with antibacterial soap, apply a layer of Silver Colloid gel, then a Band-Aid. The gel keeps the injury moist so the skin doesn’t pull as it heals. You can also use good old Vaseline.

I did a stockup like this last year and Im still using items from my pantry that I havent needed to buy since then. What I bought will carry me into spring.
Takes alot of saving for me to do this. But its worth it.

What is the size of your family that lives in the house, and what is the total size of your family that you feed at holiday gathering?
I live in a large city in the state of virginia. I am in my seventies. I was raised by grandparents. We've always lived in large cities. However, we've always canned. Picked berries. Would purchase a half a cow and have it cut up the way we wanted it for the winter. Owned a large freezer chest back in nineteen fifty nine. Baked our own breads, cakes, pies. Made sauce from scratch. Make Italian sausage from scratch. Made cookies, candies, cheesecakes etc. In fact, my daughter is a well known pastry chef across the US. We have always had a stocked pantry with food, medicine, paper products, cleaning products etc. Always had a way to make a fire so we could cook if there was no electricity or natural gas. Always had extremely warm clothes from head to toe. So when covid came around, I ended up sending paper products to my sister in upstate new york. Paper products to my daughter, who at the time was living in Texas. Keeping the court I live on supplied with various items to include wine and liquor, books, and d v d movies.
My current home has a whole house back up generator and a gas burning fireplace. I have two refrigerator freezers plus an additional five cubic refrigerator and an upright freezer.
You are absolutely right. You never know if something is going to happen like covid, or loss of a job may it be, for short or a long period of time. Maybe even family members have to move in with you.
My grandparents taught me right. How to prepare. How to stack up. How to have redundant systems.
I wish you and your family a very healthy and happy new year.

I like a nice stocked panty but typically shop throughout the summer months stocking up on items to last us the winter months. I buy alot ofnorgabic items from Azure Standards and some from Sam's club and Costco. I also make a ton of homemade food and can our harvest from our gardens. If you are wanting an excellent vanilla bean source, try Native Vanilla. I too make my own extracts and this is where I buy from. They have the best beans and variety from all over the world.
