This is so interesting!, I was in a very similar situation but I was the Canadian girl who was long distance with someone from germany, and when he would come to montreal to visit me there was no issues.

I was born in Australia. I am very Caucasian in appearance.

When i went to India, the visa process was UNHINGED. The amount of personal information I had to give was unbelievable. They wanted to know every previous address I'd had for the last ten years. Having moved 12 times in that time period, that took forever. Then i had to provide the details of my parents when I don't even have those because I'm estranged.

They insisted on knowing my father's occupation when I never even met him.

Then I had to do it all over again to get a sim card.
