Visa & Entry Rules for Thailand in 2026: What Visitors and Expats Need to Know
Video Overview & Insights
In this video I discuss all the visa and entry rules for Thailand in 2025, including the entry process, new changes, and some of the misinformation that you may encounter online.
Really solid breakdown. One thing worth mentioning for anyone planning to move to Thailand with pets: the import requirements are actually quite manageable from most countries, but you need to start the process earlier than most people expect. The health certificate has a short validity window before entry, and the import permit application needs to be filed in advance. For cats specifically, it's one of the smoother Southeast Asian destinations β no quarantine if the paperwork is right.

I noticed you skipped the part about returning from Thailand. It wonβt let you complete the form without also writing a leaving date and flight number also! So arriving on a one way ticket doesnβt work

Last year as I went through Thai customs, a Hindi national in front of me was asked at the desk for proof of funds and accommodations. He couldn't provide either and was quickly surrounded by three officials and taken away! It seems like there is a crackdown on "tourists" trying to enter the country to work illegally.

Cal - any recommendations on what is acceptable for a return flight if entering with a multiple entry visitor visa? Does the return flight have to be within the first 60 days, or can it be at the end of the 6 months? Thanks!
@kevinwood8524What if Iβm going there for work for 30 days?
@I_SuperHiro_II was wondering, once the 90 days is up, what is the process to leave and return? Where do you go and how? What do you need to do while there and return with?

@necopamuk5663I don't have visa or entry questions. The only question I have is what's the fxcking point of wearing a baseball hat if you're just going to wear it backwards. What are you, 10 years old?
@The_HagseedCan I take dollar cash instead of 10k baht to show at immigration?
@rahulgambit64I have been coming to Thailand since 2006 and i find it funny how every few trips the entry requirements change π
@DayInThisLifeI just changed from 10 years of O-A to coming for the winter on a DTV. My bank account is at risk, I hope they figure something out because what good is a 5 year visa with no viable way to bring money into the country and spend it.
@MikesTropicalTechGreat video. Still no automated gates for entry at immigration? Like Singapore? It will be great if Thailand gets rid of the physical stamping of passports.
@OutOfTheRatRace24Could anyone please put up a link of the official TDAC there are too many fake links in Google Thank you in advance
@meethalundCal.. I have to pass through immigration to collect my suitcase then catch another flight to Vietnam a couple of hours later without leaving the airport.
Do I still have to fill in the DTAC and if so how do I navigate the Hotel section as I am not staying in Thailand at that point.

@cam_m44In 2023, the immigration in Thailand airport said to me US passport will let you stay in Thailand for maximum of 30 days ,maybe this year it change
@mayac2266TY TY TY !! Ive been stressing over this VISA sitation since i started this journey of potentially moving to thailand and the DTV works out so well for me !!! thank you for that i almost cried after i came across that part ... because ive been wanting to stay longer
@ShaktraveleatsHey I have a question. I will be traveling to Thailand next month for around 87 days. Iβd like to know if this will be covered by the visa exemption, without having to leave the country in between. Because I read somewhere that you have to show proof that you will leave the country within the first 60 days, or you will be denied access. Since Iβm not planning to leave the country, but stay there for the full 87 days consecutively, Iβd like to know if I will still be covered or if I need a visa.
@kunaionfn3121Thailand is desperate for tourist cash
@seymourelykeleyOld news
@seymourelykeleyThanks! My new goal is to save up $20k before going so I can apply for the DTV visa. Because I already know once I visit for 30 days I wont want to leave lol. Thanks for this extra info Cal!
@Jrichz@thebangkokguide Cal you doing a great job big fan of your content, quick question: can you apply for a multiple entry tourist visa in Thailand during your 60 days tourist entry ?
@tobiogunlade777I'm one of the people that was under the distinct impression that the Visa Exemption had ALREADY been reduced back to 30 days.
This is the first that I heard it wasn't.
Letβs say if I were to enter Thailand twice next month, each time only spending 3 and 16 days there, it shouldnβt be an issue right?
@claypotrice13_So as an American DTV visa runs will still be doable? My wife and are planning on renting a condo in Pattaya and ditching the states for good.
@anonamoose1891hey, i have a doubt when they ask a return ticket we need to show within 60days right, but i want to extend 30 more days in that case, should i book and showm them dummy return tickets ??
