I look at it this way, the "$20 Trick" is the first bet I place when I get to Vegas. Sometimes my bet pays off. Sometimes it doesn't, but it's Vegas so it is worth the risk.

Did the trick last weekend at Mandalay Bay. Keep in mind it was EDC.
LOL I didnt think this would actually work. They gave me a corner suite in W upgraded from the cheapest room in Mandalay Bay.
I personally don't like the W hotel (or Delano recently) because the rooms are SO boring with the all white... but hey
The full wall window was pretty dope

I've done this a couple times. The first was at the Mandalay Bay and they moved me over to the Delano which was a good upgrade. The other time was at the Aria and got moved into a corner suite with a Strip view - the toilet with all the buttons and features alone was worth the extra $20 lol.

Your $20 upgrade trick is the same as earning Marriott status as a titanium... always a reason why the upgrade is unavailable... one must pay the actual room cost and and understand that the $20 bribe falls flat except for a 'lucky shot'... Bloggers like you make big bucks by convincing us 'nobody's' that there is an easy path to a better room. Nor are the hotel frequent stay programs any good. 'If you wanna throw a dance... you gotta pay the band!' :-(

For future reference, king and queen beds are both 80" long. A king gives you an extra 16" in width. We always opt for two queens!! We sleep better with our own beds!

Sorry but I would never stay at any of those hotels .
I'm a resident of Vegas
And I've been upgraded twice at Ceasars to 2bedroom suite from checking in late just from over booking they didn't have our original rooms .
I always am just very kind and go with the flow perks can be had by kindness.
But I've also tried to stay where my friends book when they visit and have got into the room and said NO WAY AM I STAYING HERE .
Unfortunately Vegas isn't as great as you might think .
The Prices to park , drinks, food I can go on and on better take out a loan if you want to enjoy yourself 🎉

I’m trying this today! It’s my first time in Vegas! I would upgrade this lady for free! She’s beautiful with a great personality!
@buzzsaw99idk if this would work at Wynn
@yonasdonus224Aly, going to try the 20 buckaroo sandwich for a higher floor, I never get a high floor when asking so this time I'm on a mission. Vdara, here we come!
@wayneh8767I will definitely try the $20 truck the next time I'm in Las Vegas 😊
@sharonellington9085Also once you are situated, find the shuttle guys, but only the guys driving the hotel cars, which are top of the line Escalade etc. I tipped him $100.00 and he gave his cell #, he called me immediately so I could add him. From that point we had front of the line service and executive services and a chauffeur to take us anywhere we needed. I had also asked that we wanted the industry treatment, not a tourist. It was the best $100. I spent.
We there was 10 of us and I made the rest of the group tip the chauffeurs. “ My Guy” was awesome and helped us for the week were there.
This is Las Vegas. A $20 bill isn't enough to get any more than a different floor or maybe a fridge.
Throw down a note and see what happens.
If you stay at El Cortez.. You WILL be treated like a true "guest" in somebody's home 🏡... It's like THAT... The people there ARE part of "something" and employees with no family upon death ☠️ are cremated and interned in the Cortez basement honor mausoleum they got.. Showing love... Some rooms suck..I didn't do the upgrade twenty bucks thing... And my room was shitty really.. Overall with stalker fs up in the roof above me banging the f away bouncing around up there and through the night- so work WASN'T GOING ON AT 🌃- SO this won't happen to you unless you are a "Target 🎯" which . Unfortunately I am .. But that's not entirely Cortez's fault... They no better from an impersonator to a real agent . Not do they know who exactly to call about it if so.. Anyway- ec is great..I like their new key wrist bands too..*(you just don't ever leave your key in the room anymore there...😊
@OGNAHEIRlol. I tried it at the Venetian and the clerk kept my $ and didn’t upgrade a thing.
@kzarconeTotally works. Booked the cheapest Planet Hollywood room and got a high floor room right on top of the Bellagio fountains. On a 4 night stay over a busy weekend.
@beaveronabikeThese are all low-end Vegas properties. The $20 trick is not usually successful at the upscale Vegas properties.
@CH-tg6zqMy dear... it isn't a trick 😊... it's tiny corruption
@MaksymilianPetrenkoThe last thing I worry about in las vegas. Is twenty dollars
@DaveMartinez-o1sThe $20 trick didn't work at Southpoint. She just raised us a few floors and kept the $20. Very disappointed.
@HOlsen789I have never had this trick fail in Las Vegas. The last few years though I noticed it’s usually a 50$ to make them put a better effort in though
@garymuth5357A coworker tried it at Treasure Island and got bumped up from a standard room to a suite, complete with complimentary champagne.
@ymcairedellbballDefinitely going to try this when I go there in a couple weeks!
@adamjustmusicAh ha! Im 6'9 as well and king beds are a definite plus. Foam cal king at home for that matter. That said, we travel on queens because Im a dancer when I sleep and my wife can get grouchy on queen springs. Never tried the trick but if I do during my next vegas trip in a few months Ill come back and update.
@HooskerdoosHi were visiting this week from the UK from Sunday night Through Saturday (checking out Saturday). as this is a longer stay, should we offer a higher amount with this trick? I have checked their website and they still have loads of rooms available (we are currently just booked on the assigned at checkin rate)
@grantos3000I'm curious to now if anyone's tried this at the Hilton Elara Hotel.
@NicoleMoonyt20 dollar trick aka the 20 dollar sandwich used to work back in the day. At least for me the last time it really worked was around 2016. It never worked for me at MGM. All they did was offer a higher floor. The places it did work for me was at The Flamingo (got a suit out of it) and Suncoast Casino (also got a suit). I think it is harder now that it's a little more packed (especially since it's a sports town now). I did recently try it in Laughlin (Aquarius Hotel and Casino) and it worked there. Got upgraded to a suit. As for it not working and getting your money back, I usually tell the check in person to keep it as a tip whether it worked or not. I just believe in good luck/karma and hope that luck will find me by giving $20 to them whether I got upgraded or not.
@ciphersniperI don't do the $20. I ask or write in for a Free or reduced rate upgrade and mention a special event.
For Instance at Westgate I used points and for $80 with resort fee I got. a Suite on a Saturday.
At Park MGM I am Gold MGM so they may upgrade me or get a reduced upsell.
a casino MEMEBER card and a $ 50 works everytime
@bobjeffrey8863We are staying in the Paris Hotel on the 10th July for 3 nights and have the Burgundy King room booked at the moment... I'll give it a go and see what happens
@philriches98306’9 Holy Shit
@AYDRIANVRtried it at the strat. person at the check in desk said they weren't allowed to take tips but gave me a great room anyway
@jamesp9595Does the $20 trick seem to work whether you book directly through the hotel or like Priceline?
@post-manWorks everytime with a 50. Not often with only $20.
@DamonTraderI usually just ask and usually get upgraded. I didnt know giving money made a difference
@Vegas_NightsIt usually works anytime before 3pm I’ve been doing this since 21’ at Bally’s, Paris Hotel and etc. I discreetly put $20 plus depending on how nice I want my upgrade to be. And very time I’ve gotten a major room upgrade, next stop Cosmo.🎉
