Utah voted in 2018 to establish an Independent Commission to combat gerrymandering. Whether you like it or not, the judge upheld the LAW by overturning the 4R-0D map.

Ok, but it’s a fair map tbh. Whether or not it should have been implemented in the manner it was is a separate issue, but it’s a fair map that makes geographic and political sense.

The map was struck down because it was ILLEGAL!

We are screw as country. Almost 6 months after BBB and no change in mid class/lower class lifestyle. Even farmers are get money, but can't lower prices. Dems are going to tax the hell out of you, GOP is too stupid to nuke the filibuster, yet all Congress members are guarantee to get paid until Sept. 2026. I don't think where on the verge of a recession, rather on the verge of a depression. This government shutdown was just the tip of the iceberg. Both higher taxes and less government assistance is coming. They need to place the penny plan in place and decade of really cutting to get this country complete back on track.

This is not the case at all! In 2021 Utah voters approved a referendum that created an independent re=districting commission. The Utah Legislature then said they have the authority to draw the lines and created 4 deep red districts. Several groups of Utah voters sued and the Utah Supreme Court vacated what the legislature did and ordered new maps drawn. A state district court judge ordered new maps drawn and picked the map that the legislature did not want. Please stop spreading misleading. Utah is still suing over this map. It was the court that overturned the maps not the legislature!

There is so much time between now and the midterms and in the last week or so it has all gone from skittles and unicorns and rainbows for the Republicans to doom and gloom in the 2026 midterms.
A couple of weeks ago, Republicans were said to be redistricting in various states, and with the Supreme Court ruling on certain districting the Republicans stood to gain about 15 to 25 seats for the midterms. And then, after the Democrat victories in New Jersey and Virginia governors races, and some headlines on redistricting suddenly it is all now doom and gloom as far as the eye can see.. I think it is all just fundraising efforts myself, don’t get caught up in all this drama.

I don’t see any judge complaining about Massachusetts’ map or Connecticut’s map!

Since when does a random ahh judge have the right to decide how a state draws its district?

The situation in Utah is a bit more complicated. So the useless and spineless Utah GOP allowed a ballot measurement (Proposition4) to pass in 2018 which banned ''partisan'' gerrymandering and created an independent commission, which to my understanding doesn't decide about the new maps but has to be considered or something. They later tried in the legislature to water down that measurment, but that failed in Court and ultimately the supposedly Republican Utah Supreme Court decided that the current map drawn in 2021 is partisan. The courts then in late August just gave the legislature 30 days to pass a new map, the legislature isn't even officialy in session until January. The legislature failed to met that 30 day threshold, but passed later a map, which if I remember correctly created one competetive, though still like Trump +4 seat. But now comes the kicker, Democrats sued against that an a liberal judge, that was nominated by a Rino Governor (not Cox, the guy before him!) tossed that map out too. And it get's even worse, she then decided to choose the map herself, ignored completely the constitution, killed checks and balances, killed seperation of powers and legislated from the bench of her liking, which was of course the map of the Democrat plaintiffs with a safe blue vote sink in Salt Lake.

So overall. Utah GOP is useless and spineless like usual and sleeped on the wheel when that Proposition came about. Sadly a lot of Republican voters voted for that Prop, because it's principled to let Democrats win or something and then the district judge decided that judges are now the legislature. So the last part might be litigated, the legislature already announced that with the governors support and there are it seems already impeachment articles filed against that judge, though that bascially never leads to anything.

Unless Vance takes over the presidency none of this matters. If vance is president gop will be close in the house and senate is safe. If we have another 12 months of madness house will be same as 2018 and senate is a toss up

RINOs should be branded as terrorists and get the death penalty.
