Fragments of porcelain and blocks of beeswax lead to a 250-year-old shipwreck and a forgotten trade route of vast cargo ships in the Pacific.

It’s terrifying, but honestly? Liquefaction was the best thing that ever happened to Heracleion’s history. If it hadn't sunk, it would have been looted, built over, and modernized into oblivion. The sea didn't just destroy the city; it vacuum sealed it for us. We only have those incredible finds because of the disaster.

What i learned about this episode is that it truly takes a village to do these things. Glad to see experts in their own fields pitching in to solve a mystery. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I hope it was put in for dramatics- but the last archeologist should have been removed from the sight. Instead of looking himself he had an amateur local cut off a piece of the wood. I know scientists and enthusiasts are very different things, but you should always send someone out just in case instead of letting someone hack at something that could be history.

This is fascinating, but are we sure these reconstructions aren’t just high-tech guesses? At what point does science turn into speculation? Curious what everyone thinks.

But what was the reason all the ships sank. You would expect them to break them down, even in that time.

What do you mean when you say there’s no archaeological evidence of the Ottoman Empire? Thought there was copious amounts of this over 600 years?

Great watch, thanks for uploading this for free! Just one suggestion, if you could split these up into chapters. YouTube keeps starting it over and it's a pain trying to find where I was at last.

How come I can easily speak French without an English or American accent but guys like this can’t speak English without a stereotypical French accent? It’s got to be part of their schtick.

51:27 Yes, archeologists frequently wait till the last day of an excavation to REVEAL their greatest find - obviously trying to secure funding for the next season.

It's a 100 year old hoax that has resulted in a million tourists a year bring their money to Scotland, nothing more. Humans are a superstitious lot, look at how many people still believe in some kind of intelligent creator.

As a Filipino that was taught throughout my elementary days on how our ancestors have suffered and how during the Spanish colonization, the galleon trade was created, the beeswax shipwreck gives me such mixed feelings. It's so chilling that what was once illustrations from our history books are now real. In another note I'm so happy that Craig the fisherman was vindicated lmao even giving the line about the experts ignoring the locals on the actual expert that ignored the local. The irony of it all.
