As a person who had been in abusive relationships most of my life, I can tell you that people just don't understand the psychology behind why women in this situation keep going back to the abuser.

I am not sure I can even explain it now that I have finally gotten out of that situation.

I know in my case, I was made to feel like he was the best I would ever find, and that I was fat and ugly and that no one else would want me. I was literally told this by my abusers.

I think it also comes down to the woman's personality, and a lot of those women, including me, just couldn't face being alone.

But most of all, and this is something that perhaps is not well known about abusive relationships, is that leaving the abuser, the stalking, the harassment, the sabotage, the fear, the basic hell that the abuser puts you thru trying to get you back.....sometimes it's easier to go back or to just stay to avoid the nightmare they can and do put you thru.

I wish Carrie could have gotten out in time to save her life.

If he was a heroin addict & had used close to the time of the crime , unless he had also used a stimulant as well he should have been in a more sedated kind of state NOT an aggressive one . However if he was lacking his usual dose its very possible that he was asking for money and in an extremely aggravated state -- aggravated enough to take a life , which he did .

Tragic, truly heartbreaking and unacceptable. I am so sorry that Carrie lost her life to this vicious, cruel and abusive POS that tormented her for over a period of 15 years!!! Men like this aren’t men as they are incapable of being a “man”, they thrive on beating down, abusing and violating women that they claim to “love”. That isn’t love, but many, many times a death sentence for women. Men like this never stop or leave their victims alone until they have killed them! We must start raising our sons to be better and to teach them that THIS is not love, it’s controlling, manipulation and violence and it is not acceptable!! My heart is broken for Carrie Slaters family and loved ones. RIP Carrie Slater 🕊️🕊️
