Jobless George Maben in his early 40s and living with his 83yr old mum, lucked out when he bumped into a younger woman named Sally outside a Surrey hospital. Love bloomed, and George found himself settling into Sally's mum's large suburban home with all the creature comforts and space he wanted. Sally soon got pregnant. But her mum Maureen got tired of George's laziness asked him to leave. Back living with his 83yr old mum, and determined to get his comfy life with Sally back, George then set a plan in motion which would involve murder, betrayal and unusually for the police, a meticulous investigation that would only succeed by involving divine intervention.

@Patricia.GrahamThe sentence is a crime in itself. This not justice! A UK man recently was sentenced 8 years for a car collision which killed someone. Terrible and devastating, but it was a genuine accident, and he's full of remorse and to a certain degree, his life is ruined. 18 years for a premeditated murder by an evil liar, beggars belief! Grow some balls, English judiciary system!
@autumnsea7848The daughter is equally to blame for bringing that no gooder in the family.If she married she should be on her own.They were free loading on the mother when it was her time to live her retired life in peace.The brothers should not speak to her though she was not an active participant in the murder.

Sally had a choice to stay with a man who didn't work and took advantage of her mother. Plus, she smoked throughout her pregnancy. Neither of those choices show too much concern for others. I'm sorry for the trauma she endured though.
Very sad what happened to Maureen. She seemed like a lovely lady. George Maben was a lazy layabout who expected to be able to sponge off her because he was seeing her daughter. How the police tricked him to confess and exonerated Sally was brilliant. It is tragic that Sally was pregnant by the man who murdered her mother. It must have been terrible thing for her to live with. Sally was innocent and so is her child. I hope the family manage to rebuild their lives I am glad that his sentence was increased to 18 years. This was not enough for what he did to an innocent woman who had taken him into her home and tried to help him. It is tragic how this family lost both their parents - one by suicide and one by murder.

He just wanted a free ride through life, when Sally's mother recognised him for being lazy, work shy, liar, and abusive he planned and carried out her murder.

@DarrellNichols-p3cI’d be curious as to what was going on personally in the Judges life or what had happened lol cause from the outside looking in seems the Judge was projecting something personal to originally hand down only a 15 yr sentence, 18 on appeal.
