A chain of corruption is at play here, starting with commercial driving schools that manipulate tests, and ending with transportation companies that knowingly hire these drivers, paying them very little for long hours behind the wheel while bypassing rules and regulations. Indian and Eastern European immigrants make up 75% of those involved, with the remainder coming from Mexico and China

My company was doing a self-driving truck road test in Houston last night. This morning my colleague sent me a message saying "The truck overturned." Now I know he was referring to this accident.

@CarlosGra-s4mThe lanes on i-10 are so narrow these 18 wheelers frequently drift onto the line or other lane. So much unused space on i-10 west where they could use that extra space to slightly widen each lane.

@paulmetheny2126I always tell people do not drive next to trucks, or near any other cars. The reason I speed is to not be next to anyone. Not because I wanna be fast. It’s for protection of myself.

...truck drivers shouldn't be on the same roads as cars anymore than bicycles should be.
Give the truckers the hov lanes so their meth addictions can only hurt other truckers.
Ban them entirely during certain times of the day.
Restrict their access to all but one lane.
Stop removing roads when making new ones, leave them for the truckers.
...tons of options.

@soflodougVery sad news something must happen for these truck drivers to be running out of control more rules need to change for these trucks drivers if you look around on the highways they don’t care driving in high speed driving like nobody else is on the highway cutting off others it’s so ridiculous and innocent people dying change the rules make them drive on the right lane only 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
