@almccoy2054Trump looks like he's buying stocks across the board in equal amounts so he's well diversified. I don't think I could say the same about Pelosi. She seems to be a little more specific. Either way, I don't think that politicians (or their families) should be allowed to own stock in publicly traded companies.
@Piper7cubFor the case of Pelosi: Turning 785K USD into 130M USD 37 years later is not an amazing feat and did not need any special information and is not a sign of unethical conduct nor insider trading. Any reasonably serious, dedicated investor could have done the same and possibly even better. There is no reason to suspect any unusual or unethical behaviour on the part of Pelosi. That kind of investing results is not out of the ordinary. The only thing that this shows is that the rich (in this case having 785K USD to invest in June 1989) are very likely to get richer if they take some time to plan and execute an investment strategy.
So no, Pelosi is not an example of a politician unethically increasing their wealth. A non-political, full-time private investor who treated wealth management as a primary profession could have achieved equal, or even superior, results over the same timeframe.
