Class 387 Electrostar trains appear at Cardiff Central primarilyย to provide extra capacity for major events at the Principality Stadium and to operate specific, low-carbon, early-morning or weekend commuter services for Great Western Railway (GWR). These electric-only, 12-carriage trains are used to support existing Intercity Express Trains (IETs).

The Class 387 are amazing trains and itโ€™s very rare to see them in Cardiff Central since the Great Western Main Line was electrified from Hayes & Harlington to Reading, Newbury, Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Cardiff Central.

Thanks! โœ…

โ˜• BUY ME A KO-FI

9:32 I see Transport For Wales are still operating some of their 150s. They look so manly and old in comparison to the FLIRTs. I thought TFW had got rid of all of them by now.

๐Ÿš„ INFORMATION KEY

"why is that 745 red?"

โ€” @jacobZfxz

Train Numbers โ€“ e.g. 43032 or 800110 โ€“ These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more

I play a game called train sim world 6 and Iโ€™m starting to play the Cardiff central route

โ€” @beardedgent2178

Headcodes โ€“ e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 โ€“ These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more

Amazing

โ€” @no_sentry2435

Set Number โ€“ e.g. WB64 or NL04 โ€“ These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.
