As someone from SC, Myrtle Beach may not be Miami, Tampa, Daytona, Hawaii, Atlantic City, the Hamptons, Panama City, Ocean city, ect… but it’s still one hell of a beach, and I’m proud to say we have one of the best beaches on the east coast. Yes it can be dangerous in some parts(that’s everywhere though) and it’s not the most high-end beach like some of the other I listed, but it’s still got some really upscale places, and great day activities and a amazing night life. Theres the board walk, broadway at beach, barefoot landing, they have a WonderWorks(upside down building if you haven’t seen what one looks like) pretty amazing bars and night clubs, and more putt putt courses than you can ever imagine. As well as the actual beach goes, it’s not dirty or anything and the waves are decent in high. Definitely big enough to surf on, and if there’s a storm out in the ocean, but not close enough to affect the mainland area, you can get some pretty big/ awesome waves… just watch out for the undertow. Also, it’s really not that expensive in some hotels and they can still be pretty nice, but if you do want to spend a lot of money, there are always the upscale hotels as well that have their penthouses and just nice rooms overall but a lot of of the hotels are right there on the water. Even some of the cheaper ones. And some of the restaurants and food there is to die for. All types of different foods and there’s nothing better than that South Carolina barbecue. It’s even a great beach to visit in the winter just because there’s so much to do other than to go in the water when it’s too cold for some people. Some northerners can handle the water in the winter, but not me lmao.
Quick sidenote, if you’re not really into the party scene type of beaches, we also have the city of Charleston, which I’m sure everyone has heard of and that’s where you go If you just want to relax, see some really cool and really old architecture, visit some awesome landmarks like one of the biggest trees in the world, Fort Sumpter (where the Civil War started), boat and light house tours, and also some really great beaches that aren’t as crowded. Don’t get me wrong, they can be but generally not as bad as Myrtle Beach. They are on islands, but it’s not like you have to drive far to get to them. It’s just downtown Charleston itself is on a peninsula which has the battery so there’s not really a beach right there. It’s where the four rivers flow towards the ocean and mix to create brackish Waters. Charleston also has some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life and I’ve visited a lot of different places in the country…. They have the freshest seafood, great all around American and foreign food which is all AMAZING AND AUTHENTIC, and even a restaurant called Lewis barbecue, which even though it’s brisket, which is technically Texas barbecue, it’s still better than any brisket I’ve ever had from Texas and they use the texas way of smoking it. They also have some pretty awesome breweries, bars, and downtown Charleston at night is amazing, especially since the college of Charleston is right there downtown so you already know people are getting lit down there.
All and all, I love that I live in South Carolina!
