Many people have commented about my shortcut. Leaving the road and going through the bushes was NOT a shortcut. It made the trip longer. It was about going off road and negotiating obstacles, not about making the trip shorter.

I wonder what Paul thought about Les Stroud, they both had the same advice to offer in that the best survival pack is one that you make your own

Snowing hard, cloud white out on a 9,000' peak you came up in the dark, and I was dizzy turned around. It's not a good feeling.

@samuelferrell9257You know part of his brilliance is the outline he gives for the video at the beginning. He tells you what is going to happen and in what order and you know precisely what’s going to be covered.

Ots easier to get lost than we think. We usually make huge left ha d circles.i got lost hunting as a youth.abd made it back but was scary and look 9 hours to realize where I was and then hit the road.
Many times we dnt plan on being out long and then dnt have supplies for a night out whe we were planning 2 hours

@ElianAden-n1k8cBeing able to read a topo map in the mountains is huge. Get yourself a compass and before you go, print out a couple topo maps (they're free online). Mark your car/trailhead and make sure to use a map pouch/plastic bag so you don't lose it. Phones are great until the battery dies or you don't have reception. Apps like Gaia and OnX are also good because you can pre load maps and they can use your phones GPS but I strongly advise against that being your only method of mapping.
