I've been wanting to make this lesson for a while.
In this video I teach the top four fingerpicking guitar patterns in the travis picking style.
How about 3/4 time patterns? Have any for 3/4 time?
If you're interested in fingerpicking or travis picking, then these are the essential right hand patterns to learn.

• I play each pattern through a common chord progression (slow, then fast)

Thx for this! I’m self taught and have always played the G chord bass line like “G , B, G, B,” using the 6th and 5th strings, but hearing these I definitely am switching to the 6th and 4th instead because it just sounds way better❤

I already knew all this, but wow I need to work on my speed. These patterns sound so much more impressive when you play them at just a little faster than I can.
My teacher (just a guy who played) said to anchor the pinky on the pick guard, to keep the hand from moving around. I've taught other people that and they thought it was a good technique.

You may want to add that on the basic foundation of the pattern, if played correctly, the alternating bass line will automatically fall into place
@mikebarker7626Now here's a funny thing. I am 73. I am only playing for fun and for family. I just cannot follow the instructions for where to put fingers or pentatonic theory (although I read some music).
I just listen, get a chord name and I can more or less imitate the pattern by ear and muscle memory.
Am I conning myself?
