Video Overview & Insights

In this video, I explore Cincinnati Ohio, and showcase the many things to do and see in this exciting Midwestern meets Southern City. It is one of the most architecturally surprising places I've been to, with plenty of history, culture, and outdoor activities.

Cincinnati is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. Settled in 1788, the city is located on the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The third-most populous city in Ohio with a population of 309,317 at the 2020 census, Cincinnati serves as the economic and cultural hub of the tri-state Cincinnati metropolitan area, Ohio's most populous metropolitan area and the nation's 30th-largest at over 2.3 million residents.

Throughout much of the 19th century, Cincinnati was among the top 10 U.S. cities by population. The city developed as a river town for cargo shipping by steamboats, located at the crossroads of the Northern and Southern United States, with fewer immigrants and less influence from Europe than East Coast cities in the same period. However, it received a significant number of German-speaking immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. It later developed an industrialized economy in manufacturing. Many structures in the urban core have remained intact for 200 years; in the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as the "Paris of America" due mainly to ambitious architectural projects such as the Music Hall, Cincinnatian Hotel, and the Roebling Bridge. Greater Cincinnati has the 28th-largest economy in the U.S. and the fifth-largest in the Midwest, home to Fortune 500 companies!

0:57 - Over-The-Rhine

The gentleman at 31:00 said he's keeping it real -- the violence and "young people."
He's not being specific.
It's the young males of a certain demographic causing most of that violence.
Good video. Cincy is beautiful city. Many unique, cool suburbs -- Clifton, Northside, Walnut Hills. Just watch yourself when the sun ball goes down.

What a joke of a video! You never left a 3 square mile area of Cincinnati. Never crossed the river. B***s**t portion about a "scooter gang"...oooh. Btw, what about the Krohn Conservatory and Cincinnati Arts Museum? You can show us your fru-fru coffee with sprinkles but not these great places nestled between Mt Adams and Eden Park. Weak!!!

You forgot a little gem of a place in Loveland. It's a small family owned seafood market and they smoked THE best salmon in the state of Ohio. It's called The Seafood Station. It's a small store, but worth visiting.

I went to high school in a suburb not far from Kings Island amusement park (our graduation ceremony was in Music Hall). My parents still live in town, but in Kenwood. I give Ohio and Cincy shit, but truly, they're nice places, and Cincy and Cleveland are underrated cities. (I lived in Cleveland as a kid in the 70s.) There are many good universities. You have Kings Island and Cedar Point. You have the Ohio River and Lake Erie for waterfront on the north and south. There are hills in the east and vast plains to the west. The one thing I can't abide, though, are the winters. I now live in NM and hate real cold.
I saw Sam Kinison in Music Hall.
In 1993, I saw Phish at the Cincy Zoo.

Fun fact: Cincinnati Museum Center was also “The Hall of Justice” in 2025s Superman

Over-the-Rhine is all fun and games till the sun goes down. For years the FBI considered it the most dangerous neighborhood in the U.S. The gentrification people fixed it up but unfortunately the riff-raff just moved a couple blocks north.

Good job, enjoyed the video. Winston Churchill after visiting Cincinnati in the 1930s commented that it is the most beautiful inland US city. On the other hand Jim Murray , legendary Los Angeles newspaper sports writer, remarked that Cinicinnat reminded him of an unmade bed.

I wish y'all could have seen downtown in the 1970s at Christmas time. There was so much to see and do, it would take 3 days to see and do everything. Thank you for your video.

@BethWondrely

Krohn's Conservatory is another great place to see and wander through, and, while not in Cincy directly, heading over the river to the big hotel the restaurant there is great and is a revolving observation one where you can see everything while you eat.

@AzraelThanatos

Union terminal is still a train station but it’s more now. It was also the inspiration for the hall of justice for the justice league. They made it look exactly like this. Look it up. I can’t post any pic of it.

You missed Covington Ky and that was a huge miss.

Over the Rhine or as we call it OTR was named for the canal that is now central parkway that the Germans nicknamed “the little Rhine”. Streets like Vine street had canal bridges so you were going “over the Rhine” into that neighborhood being north of the little Rhine canal.

Music hall is also the opera house, not just the symphony. They will do opera in the park in Washington park in front of it.
