I can't believe they left out Marion Cotillard who nailed it as Piaf in La Vie en Rose. One of the greatest performances in film history. She played the same character at 3 different stages of her life.

But where's Mario Cotillard for "La Vie en Rose"? That has to be one of the best performances in the history of film 🥺

@saulornelas115

Mostly women in your video.
Also most of the scenes you described were not the actual scenes that contributed to the Oscar award or nomination even.
If you want to mention 1 scene only, is the monologue of Robin Williams talking to Matt Damon sitting on the bench by the lake.
That scene and this monologue is epic.
IMPORTANT: Not everyone that cries deserves an Oscar. Usually movies tend to drag the tear from the audience, by making actors crying or being very sentimental. It's the silent performances that are much more deep and efficient and these are much better.
In 'Gandhi', Sir Ben Kingsley didn't shed a tear, but his performance was a milestone in Oscars' history.
Same as in many other movies, eyes can talk and share the internal pain, better than any tear.
Oscars are voted from people that are even writing music, or working on the production.
The only people that should be voting, are actors and directors.
From the whole list I can agree only for Viola Davis, Javier Bardem.
For the rest, the scenes you mentioned are not really decisive alone to grant an Oscar award.
For 'Live Aid' this is a good performance, but also most biographies are more a mimic, rather than acting.
So I would leave 'Live Aid' out of this list, although I like Remi Malek and I am a huge Queen's fan and I watched the Live Aid in 1985 from tv.
Remi had overall a good performance, but he failed to capture the speed of Freddie's way of talking.
Remi was too slow, Freddie was a somehow fast speaker.
If you compare that to Freddie, it's a whole different person.
This alone, downgrades his performance for example.
And in that year the Oscar should have gone to Bradley Cooper or Lucas Hedges. Their characters were far more deep and difficult to play, Remi only imitated another person.
As I said, Oscars voters, are mostly people that don't know about acting.
Golden Globes and most importantly Actors' Awards are more important to award an actor or actress.

RE Viola Davis scene my dad left my mom in an ugly cheating betrayal for a woman who was 25. My dad’s reason was that he felt his life had gone to waste and he was needing something to revive him. My Mom was so SO broken. I had just turned 30 so I was desperately trying to fix things in the best way I can and this movie came out and when I heard her monologue it clicked. It all clicked and I understood how shattered she was. So glad Viola took home the win that year. But then we had to relive it again in 2018 with Roma 😭
