The second lady who made the gumbo reminds me of one of my teammates grandma back when I played high school football his grandma was just like her and made such damn good food. She'd bring food every Thursday after practice and always brought fruit for half time for the team on Friday. Wasn't the same after she passed during our junior season.

I’m a lifelong born in Texas girl born and raised on the border in El Paso Texas. I grew up with Mexican food. I had a Mexican maid who taught me about real Mexico food. And I’ve mixed and made my own kind of foods like I don’t roll enchiladas it’s a waste of my time. I just make a casserole. And it took me over 50 years to find out that other people called it King Ranch chicken. So don’t criticize people in Texas that don’t know it’s king ranch chicken that’s for people that don’t know any better
