One idea for a group of videos - what about those of us getting our passport, but close to retirement and possibly thinking of retiring to Germany, but would really like to move there for 4 to 6 months and travel around Europe easily (by train) while doing some remote work. I expect such a person would have to buy health insurance; but other implications would be??. Hmm - implications of a spouse who would not be a German citizen? Funny in this video about hoch Deutsch - even when younger Austrian friends presented challenges, never mind those Dutch or Swiss people :) I'd be catching every 3rd word and then realize I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Hamburg has a great weekend market. Lots of fish and bananas. Hamburg also has more Hamburgers than Macdonald's does.

Frankfurt has a lot of pollution. (cough, cough)

Stuttgart has a very good opera.

Hamburg may not be the sunniest, but actually cities in the West are cloudier, and the sunniest parts of Germany are the areas right in the coast in Schleswig-Holstein.

The best place to live in Germany will depend on one's lifestyle/choice. Germany offers many great places to live where one could enjoy its culture and lifestyle. I lived in Hessen, and now I live in Berlin. Hence, Ich bin ein Berliner!

I would replace Dresden with Essen though...(or even Kiel)

I used to live in Mainz myself, i would not really recommend, because finding apartments are really hard there yet the rent cost is already comparable to other big cities like Dusseldorf, Koln and Frankfurt, (500-700€ warm for studio/1BB Apartment) !!! Beside the city is dead after 19:00-20:00 unlike other big cities. Even students are wait listed for years in looking for accomodations.

I think you should make a video about normal prices for renting a flat. It ruins the basis of having a roof over the head for locals when expats paying what they think is cheap.

Most Germans sneer at Frankfurt--calling it Krankfurt or just Manhattan (although the comparison is ridiculous). But I love Frankfurt. There's so much to do.

I love Germany. Was stationed there. But you simple cannot talk about the country to prospective residents without talking about the long, dreary winters. Some people will be coming from latitudes far south of those of Germany and they have no idea how short the days will be; how seldom one sees the sun.

I haven't seen anywhere uglier than Mannheim. It feels like living in Bulgaria.

Well an "expat" is somebody who's working or studying temporarily in a country usually somebody with high skills and knowledge , who was translated from his company to support for a while in a filial around the world when that is the case it doesn't matter which city or state are you living because you are going back to your country later or sooner, what you are talking about and promoting is "migration" different story which doesn't match with the title of the video.

As a international student in Düsseldorf, I really didn't expect it to be the 1st! But I am happy to hear that. That's right, that Düsseldorf is very cosy, has has a very nice location
