Tom Steyer Has Worn A Red Plaid Tie Every Day For 25 Years

Video Overview & Insights

Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer is known for wearing a red plaid tie every day. In this conversation with Stephen Colbert, Steyer reveals the reason for this fashion choice. #Colbert #Election2020 #TomSteyer

I don't trust him. And don't know if he still belongs to a private equity firm. He came out of nowhere and doesn't tell us HOW he will get the job done. Nor does he tell us how he will handle the high speed rail or get CA out of debt!

In Steyers newest campaign video, he starts by taking the Lord's name in vain. He is a blasphemer. He also shutdown the comment section.

Shortest presidential interview Colbert has given. What a slap in the face to steyer.

This guys father prosecuted nuremberg trials. The rules of this trial assured death sentences for defendants. Many lawyers did not want this tainted position. His father was a vindictive Jewish man with no morals. Pathetic!

Tom Steyer's new health care plan looks pretty similar to Joe Biden's
Medicare-for-all isn't on the table for Steyer. He wants to negotiate drug prices and then extend those savings to private insurer it does not work

If wearing a loud tie every day makes you feel better about yourself when you look in the mirror, I say go for it!! We all need motivation to start the day, his motivation is his ties. I applaud him for that, most people struggle to find that "thing" that motivates us to get up in the morning... he found it and it has clearly worked for him. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

This guy seems nice, and the ideas he states seem worthwhile too. However, I don't think a billionaire is the right way to go. America needs to correct itself from the power of the people directly. It's Bernie or bust. Even allowing this guy to have Bernie's "ear" while Bernie is President is problematic, because everyday ordinary people don't get to talk to the President, so why should Steyer? How do we really know a politician will do what they say, and do it the right way? We have to trust, but only Bernie Sanders has the receipts. We know where he stands, and that he has our interests at heart.

@systemsoversymptomsvisionw9806

Steyer hello, money and lying doesn't make you a good president, you wanted to impeach Trump for what? keep wasting your billions on yourself telling everyone how smart and rich you are, why don't you donate to poor people who have nothing, oh ya pay off all the fake news they need it more. Trump is the cleanest president we ever had, democrats make themselves look like fools accusing him for everything they have done, Trump is for america he already made it great again and will keep doing it for all of us, fake news and democrats don't give him credit, the only thing I'm disappointed about is the budget he has to do better next term.

@thomasdoucette2112

That reason for the tie...is NOT what I expected ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Tanagra180

Is a plaid tie not cultural appropriation? As far as l know, it is a traditional piece of clothing of a certain people, each pattern has significance and meaning. I thought he had Scottish roots. Wearing it to make himself look jolly - he could choose anything else that does not carry this kind of association.

To those who say they won't vote for anyone who buys their way forward even though the money is raised/spent legally, I say I hear you. But, hear this! I will vote for ANYONE OR ANYTHING that can take out trump, his bandits and anyone of any party who is unwilling to clean up this sh$t show. We are on the brink of civil and world war. They say trump will win partially because of the unlimited funding. I'll be damned if I will stand, holding my nose, on a sliver of moral high ground while we flush our beloved America. If it was a choice of equal rights for any/all people, then scootch over. But if it's about money donated/spent legally, we don't have the luxury. We are fighting for our very lives. This I believe.

Can politicians stop answering questions by saying "Look..." first. It's annoying.

@jmisc

Tom Steyer should just work for Bernie's cabinet. Hey, I watch Veep HBO, Bernie is leading the polls so probably he has private meetings with the other candidates that are not leading to be part of his cabinet.

An Open Letter To Tom Steyer

Mr. Steyer,

Let's begin with blunt reality. You will not be the Democratic nominee for President (it's OK, neither will I).

My impression of you is mixed, as I thought your ad buys for impeachment were ridiculous and a waste of your money.

I am also keenly aware of the way you built part of your fortune from fossil fuel investments. While you have said you have divested from them, you must understand that this makes progressives a bit apprehensive.

But you say good things, really, I was impressed (rhetorically). Climate change and the influence of the corporatocracy/plutocracy are things you know people want remedied. When you spoke to Cenk Ughur last year, you promised to look into his campaign finance amendment through his WOLF-PAC organization (a PAC to end PACs) that will end the latter problem. With the political influence of the fossil fuel industry cast off, and hopefully the Republican Senate majority obliterated, resistance to necessary reforms will begin to weaken.

If you are serious about addressing these problems, your place is not in elected office. Contact Cenk again, meet with him about Wolf-PAC. Those tens of millions of dollars you have spent on fruitless campaign ads could be used to push Wolf-PAC's amendment through the states.

Some people think that billionaires are narcissistic and I can't help but agree, given the policies many favor that keeps them billionaires. But, like I said, I was surprisingly impressed with the things you have said on the debate stage. You seem like an empathetic person. If you truly are, you will use your vast resources wisely. But hey, if you are a narcissist, you are a very good one and are hiding it well, you should do the same thing:

This remedy must become a constitutional amendment because any Congressional action to remove big money from politics will be immediately declared unconstitutional due to the several SCOTUS decisions starting with Buckley v. Valeo, leading to the absurd claim and assumption that money equals speech.. This amendment can only be passed with two-thirds of state legislatures calling for an Article V Convention. This has never been done, and when amendments of the past came near to the 2/3 requirement, Congress had always taken it up. But now, Congress is owned by the corporations, and it will take this method to accomplish. If you financed a massive push through state legislatures of Wolf-PAC's amendment, you will forever be known as the billionaire who used the fortune he amassed from fossil fuels to punch that whole industry in the face by bankrolling the lead up to the first Article V convention that will finally rip public policy from their corporate boards. Quite a legacy.

Empathetic or narcissistic, your best path is the same. And I assume you are the former. Consider this advice solemnly my friend. With who you are and what you have, this is what you must do.

Bernie's the obvious choice, as he is the 20/20 visionary. Steyer seems nice for a billionaire, but light on substance as a candidate. Bernie's platform is broad, far reaching, benefiting all Americans & addressing the needs of this moment in time

@reforest4fertility

It seems unfortunate that of all the things said, this headline focus is his tie choice.
