Tiger Chicken and 5-Minute Chicken Gravy Pan Sauce | Food Wishes
Video Overview & Insights
Chicken leg quarters are becoming very popular, and I think this simple technique is the best way to prep and roast them. The skin is crispy and the meat comes out tender, succulent, and beautifully seasoned. Youâll also learn how to make one of the fastest, tastiest pan sauces ever. Enjoy!

I love when a short pops up and reminds me of how good the dish I made from the full video and blog post was.

Ok what did i do wrong? I barely had any pan dripping to make the gravy, id say less than a teaspoon. Also my skin. Wasn't nearly as crispy. BUT the legs WERE juicy and delicious and I made a yummy gravy with butter flour broth and â€gravy magic. I followed the recipe step by step. What could have happened
@kellylostaglia40This one was a miss for me.
Not sure if I just messed up but it tasted weird.
Do you cut on a plastic cutting board, where microscopic plastic pieces get into your food?!
@lenovoovonel3771Made it today and family loved it. Used a bit of poetic licence and in the dent/hole of the mashed potato top, I put a spoonful of the gravy, as you did,then cut a small trench down the side of the potato facing centre of plate, so the gravy could run down a little into the sauce lake under the chicken. It was my attempt to make a volcano of potato and gravy running down into the lava lake
@davideverett8898What's a bunch of baking soda?
@gbaca07Love Chef John! This is good recipe, and very easy. IMHO, just watch out for the salt and maybe go with a bit less.
@lindahenrygoodman1348Rewatching all your chicken recipes since I have two dozen fertile dorking eggs coming tomorrow and I can only assume I will need to be making a dozen great chicken recipes soon!!
@SidneyvonKatzendameI love how you put the greens on the plate for color, probably got scooped in the trash with the bones. Why ruin good meat and potatoes and gravy?
@gonecatnagain2667It's been 40 days since we've last seen Chef John. I don't know that I'll ever be able to feed myself again with a new recipe.
@IdeaSlugExcellent
@franciscolemedasilva4648I can't wait to make this!
@cindyms.1237I'm sad I don't get notifications even with the bell on. Just getting back into cooking and of course this is the first place I go to.
@Digital_Her0I've made this twice. It was great the first time. The second time, I overcooked it and the skin was crisp and delicious and the meat was most and tender. So even if you mess this up, you can't mess this up. Great recipe, thanks.
@milliehayesOh no, no that you say they are popular they will get expensive. UGH!
@garlicgirl3149That non-stick stuff is toxic
@bruconicinfernon4noplatoon317Not since my mom gave me the book "The Joy of Cooking" about 30 years ago, have I learned so much from one source. Thank you, Chef John.
@lasvegasflagsign5399I see that you are still using the freackesly small wooden spoon, chef John. Has been a long time. Let me give you "a leg up for your recipe. Haha
@Redrooster7574Yummy. In. My. Tummy.
@YoYumDumDumIâm surprised to see baking soda in the recipe while most wing coatings say baking powderâ I never liked the taste and affects of baking powder on wings. I wonder if this run would work on wings
@joer1757Thank you for your cooking tips. Much appreciated.
@richardgambill1737I reallly wish that some smart chefs would make a good recipe like this that was keto friendly.

@julikrebsChef John we made this last night and it came out fantastic. Couple of notes: 1. propane oven required a 3 minute broil at the end to make it look like yours and we skipped the parchment and used non stick cookie sheet.
2. Even better next day heated up in the air fryer.
Thank you this elevated our chicken game to 5 star restaurant quality and the pan gravy is amazing.

@rogerholloway84981:11 "skin side down, skin side down, skin side down"
try brushing the chicken quarters with tiger chutney in the final 5 to 10 minutes. Wowzers!
This is ironically in time for Street Fighter 6's release of Sagat the tiger man, and I'm all here for it!
@SoulSaber06Fantastic!
@normanbuitta2171Do you remember that old school chicken gravy that was like yellow? There was a place from the 50's when I was a kid that closed and I have not been able to find that sort of diner food anywhere. They specialized in chicken pot pies with that yellow gravy and rice pudding with raisins.
@FrozenpotstickerLooks great, and now I'm inspired to buy leg quarters.
@laurabenson1278We call that cut of chicken a Maryland here in Australia đ one of my favourite parts of the chook
@aussiebornandbredI'm drooling all over my keyboard.
@Regiampiero1Chef, I just prepped my chicken for dinner tomorrow night. And I got to thinking, rather than baking, what if I air fried? My oven has an air frying setting. Can you recommend a temp and time for air frying the Tiger Chicken?
@phluphieLooks delicious chefđ
@hamptom11I so needed this recipe Chef: merci bien!
