This really is a feel-good movie, not unlike To Sir with Love. It was a great performance by Matthew Perry and Ernie Hudson as Principal Turner, however, I think the standout performance was presented by the students, as a group and in their individual roles. In my humble opinion, many teachers today are undervalued and often disrespected. I am also aware that there may be problem teachers, but on the whole, most of them go above and beyond the call of duty. Enjoy the movie or watch it again.

I remember going into grade 10 and the teacher forcing me to do math the way the school says and with all their steps. I went from honors to failing because I could not understand their method, which used extra steps.

My niece taught herself to read before going to school and read books beyond high school in junior schools. She is in high school and the school force her to read books that she already read in junior school.


I had to drop out after my dad ran off and other family problems and the new vice principal would not let me back in high school saying that she knows that I have "home" issues but i was already given a 2nd chance (she was the reason I quit the second time) and that they needed to "make room" for other children. (TOTAL BS ).



Justin TURDew the former prime minister of Canada was in the pstein files and visited his New York home used to be a drama teacher. One day a father came home and found Justin with his 14 year old daughter and he told him he was giving private lessons. Justin quit his teaching position and around 2019 settled a lawsuit where if the girl or family speak on the case they are fined $500,000 each time.


Matthew was working on a project on something with child exploitation and/or trafficking and was about America or hollywood before he was found and said to have over 2 dozen doses of ketamine and found floating in his pool.

These school films are always very emotional. Mattew Perry was a great actor. But the problem is deep in the system and no hero teacher can do magic. Those children keep failing not because teachers give up or because not enough is expected from them. It's because they have very serious problems and their parents have very serious problems... and so on.. it's all so sad. It should no be called a 'developed' nation... most schools in developing countries are better than this..at least in regard to respecting each other. Such an incredible effort from a single person to teach so little these kids 😢

Today’s teacher do this job for the wrong reason. They are lazy. Only care about when summer vacation comes

Once something works, they try to copy and past it on other schools thinking it will work. His approach was tailored for those kids specifically. But education system likes easy fixes and uniformity. They do not care about every class's individual needs. That is why kids are doomed to fail, 1 in a million good teacher won't make a difference.

Shame, kids go to school to learn to take tests. All that matters are test numbers. Giant groups of same age and different learning can hardly succeed together all the time.

Makarenko is left in the dust.

when we get to be in our 50's and see what we went through in school, and what our siblings, and parents, and offspring went through, and we see where they all wound up, and at the same time, we see the gangsters, and criminals profiting on our backs....this just strikes a chord.
