This is what's most exciting - Apple TV 4K (2021) and Siri Remote Review
Video Overview & Insights
Here’s a quick look at the new Siri Remote included with all new Apple TVs and available as a $60 accessory to existing supported models. By assigning a dollar value, we evaluate how much each of the improvements are worth.
Just got my hands on an older Apple TV with the old Apple TV remote and I think it’s pretty cool coming from a chrome cast 🤷♂️

IMO the power button and mute button prices should be flipped. If i want to immediately lower the volume to see something out I just hit pause. Hitting mute just keeps the video playing and id be missing parts which I would have to rewind anyways to remedy that. To turn off with the old one I'd have to press and hold the tv button and navigate to sleep or i simply pick up my tv remote and press off which turns off both the tv and the apple tv.

You forgot to add new aluminum case of the new remote.

I think they should’ve learned further into the no button design and made it automatically figure out what direction it was in

I liked the old remote better tbh cuz of the touchpad design

Why don't they just pull an AirPods Pro 2 and throw a speaker and U1 chip in there

I honestly didn’t mind the old remote. It wasn’t great by any means, but it wasn’t bad. I’ve been considering getting the new one, but I’ll probably wait until my old one dies.

I have absolutely no issue with the old Siri remote. It all sounds like an eliteish problem to me.

@1:36 the friends reunion, just watch a video about it, quensident? I think not
@mohmedbadr1947In 2023, the apple tv will be sold with the remote sold separately
@BadAtDriving86I still have the Apple TV HD and I currently have no reason to upgrade, as I don't yet have a 4K TV. My Apple TV Remote did find itself into the washing machine and the charging capability was destroyed, along with a couple of the buttons. I was still able to use it for most of its functionality while plugged, but it eventually fell one too many times and the track pad shattered to the point of not being able to use it anymore. Having that said, I'm glad Apple made this second version made of aluminum instead of glass, and that it made it backwards compatible. I did hate paying the 20$ Apple tax as 40$ was definitely the fair price, but I am enjoying the new remote on my old Apple TV. I don't play games on my Apple TV so I don't really miss the accelerometer/gyro.
@JoeCastellonWait so... The remote still can't wireless charge?
@RaygenRupeI still don’t get the point of this if you have a 4K Smart 📺
@AnomolousGrandeurRacist
@botarnav6817$60 is NOT a lot when the much worse fire tv remote for my tv is $50 for the cheapest replacement, since the original fking fell apart, literally. Id rather $60 for a metal siri remote which is built MUCH better
@BearMcHoneypotsThe fact that it's not glass and rather it's solid metal means that it can't crack and you would have to get another expensive remote. IMHO you under priced the design improvements without considering its actual build material and durability. That alone is worth $30 imo, and it would last for years.
@Elictrix967I still love my "old" Siri Remote.
@kywaraiAm I truly the only person in the world who loves and likes the now old remote more?
@MiraiChiakiOnly apple would be the company who gets a review of their new REMOTE. If any other company tried to make a big deal out of their new remote, they would be laughed at.
@TuckTechI am immediately suspicious of anyone who didn't mind the previous remote. What idealized fantasy world do you live in? The number of times my plasma power relays clicked on because the hyper-slippery disaster of a remote had slithered some nonsensical place and been clicked by a pillow or me shifting weight were enough for me to move entirely to Roku.
@EricLSI’d rather get an nvidia shield TV for that price tbh
@Ender275The old remote reminds me of the front on view of a dell desktop you’d see in almost any business a few years back.
@huntereddy4014Set your touchpad speed to medium or high man. Not that hard
@Kieran28I kinda like the one I have I dunno
@glorb4568Got it in May really love it
@Hybrid225I never really saw what the problem with that remote was, I’m just gonna keep mine.
@d0minic0116Dumb Person here: why not just make the remote the iPhone itself, with maybe the option to get a remote if you didn’t have any iPhone or wanted one? Seems like a good way to save on cost, or do they already do this and I’m stupid?
@jacksonwatkins6431The fact that it now supports eARC has NOTHING to do with playing content to the HomePods. 🙄
@jamison743:15 ? Seriously? This is way too complicated compared to the previous one :(
@extraverageThank you for this video 😂
@SparkleBoom202315 buck is all I care to spend for just a remote - maybe not even that, buying an entirely new Apple TV actually is a better value option
@e21bigThe Magic Mouse 2 is also about form over factor but it makes quite some sense. Using the iMac ensures that you do not find messy cables on your desk. If the Magic Mouse were to be wired, then it adds a wire to your desk, which is not aesthetic.
@marshthefoxcatNot so sure about how nice the charging idea is for a remote, but if it charges wireless thats amazing
@magikspastik9102Tbh I hate the new remote I found nothing wrong with the black one hate they took such a great remote away
@Simeon2005Am I the only one who actually loved the old Siri remote? 🤔 I never had any of the problems you’re describing…
@andresayala1744ATV remotes are just one more thing to break or lose. Still using the old App Store Remote app👌🏾but the Control Center one is super buggy af
@W.13thWhy would you buy a apple tv when you can buy a new smart tv from samsung which has apple air play support .. weird iSheeps in 2021 still buying apple Tv's. If you really want to use ur old Tv then buy a chormecast stick. It costs less then the apple remote lol
@feuerherz007For everyone who doesn't know, you can use the touchpad on the old Siri remote as a D-Pad just by touching up-down-left-right on the edges of the pad. It's mindblowing how many people don't know about that
@DaSamNudgethe real value of any apple product is 0 ... its crap ... who in there right mind wanna pay for crap ?!?!?
@spankie7728I'm not in the apple ecosystem, my family is all on Android phones and windows PCs, and the only reason I'm even considering an Apple TV is because Spectrum TV isn't available on Roku or Nvidia Shield. But it's able to be cast to Chromecast and I'm not sure which I'd rather do. From what I've seen online, people really aren't a fan of the interface for casting, but I also really don't want to spend $200 on a replacement for the cable box, especially when I'm not in the ecosystem.
@cardsfanbjHow anyone buys an Apple TV over a Chromecast is absolutely beyond me. What a complete rip off.
@LZentertainmentsNo mute button... yea, I'm glad I went with the cheapest thing I could get at the time instead.
@wheelieblindPeople actually use those remotes? I don't think I've ever used one for more than a couple minutes, to get it set up and working with my Harmony remote instead. Sooooo much better. I guess they're useful if you're trying to game on the AppleTV?
@compududewell yeah the cost of the remote is 40 bucks, but apple has to pay designers, developers, and other employees. all of that costs money too. so I think 20 bucks isn't a real dealbreaker.
@marc8239The ending was awesome, total burn to the magic mouse!
