Poker has largely been a “promotion” project. Over-attributing skill in place of wild recklessness getting lucky. There is WAY TOO MUCH LUCK involved in poker to attribute anything meaningful to how a person plays. ANYONE can get felted by a one-outer or be the one making that terrible call and getting the one-outer and becoming the chip leader when they should be in the bathroom evaluating how poorly they played that hand(like would be the case in ANY other “game of skill”). The whole thing is just gay, honestly. People playing loose and reckless and hitting hands over a given period of time is incorrectly attributed to skill WAY TOO OFTEN. It’s easy to “appear” talented when you’re really just a maniac who loves to gamble and gets on a good run. And the television commentators build up everyone as if they are some kind of genius for calling after the flop with a hand they never should have called with pre-flop, and hit something on the turn ONLY because the other player didn’t make them pay for that turn card. I used to like poker, but realized how stupid it is to spend time sitting around a table inside a building where a lot of people are losing money they should not be losing, playing a game that has WAY TOO MUCH LUCK involved as everyone is telling themselves they can beat the game when a half-dozen dollars are disappearing from the table every hand.
Go do something outside where if you are good you get rewarded accordingly. Poker is a waste of time.

Phil completely talked himself out of that hand in the beginning. Martinez was trying to figure out if Phil was bluffing about having a full house but then whenever Phil said “ please don’t have 4s full” which is the lowest full house - Martinez instantly knew that Phil did not have a full house if even the lowest full house would beat him and immediately called. Phil would’ve won that hand if he would’ve just stayed silent. I’ve seen 1 million hands where Phil loses because of his mouth
