"City's economy relies on the ultra wealthy"?? No, honey, the City and its economy depend on the millions of us, working people, who actually build the things, and make the things run, and move the things around, and produce, and sweat, and work... not the rich at the top who sit around and watch CNBC

Mamdani is going to cull the rich such that only the most impressive can hang on. Those at the margins will be eliminated.
As in SF, it's veering toward boosting the most elite human capital in the world at one end and the urban dregs at the other. People in the middle can F off. It's interesting that the supposed Social Darwinists of the right can't appreciate this.

I met two different wealthy nyc families who are moving their family offices here to Texas. Woohoo! It’s great for my business here. Keep the rich coming. NYC, you can have our vagrants and criminals with all your free services 😂

If they leave...home prices come down. Promise made, promise kept. lol. I love how this entire network exists to cuddle the feelings of the few at the expense of the lives of many.

I love how they don’t cite any sources. I live in Texas and it’s not like we’re proving to be examples of a healthy economy, despite being a state tax haven. We get more help from the federal government than a state like new york because our state can’t fund itself.

NYC today is Detroit in the 1960s. The downward slide has begun.

The joke is that money is like monopoly cash. As the cost of goods and services increases, so, too, will the minimum wage. Thus, leading to higher earnings. Creating "wealthier" people. To put it in perspective, being a millionaire doesn't mean much if the lowest price for essentials went up to a billion 🤯 so yeah, a lot more "millionaires" lol smh as an already having fled, born & bred NYer, I wish the true remaining NYers the best of luck 🤞🏼

No one is leaving. You go to NYC to make money. How to go from billion to million? Move out of NYC.

Texas has more finance jobs than NYC.. just wait- it's about to be even more! Go Mam'dani!
@killahwhalePart 2; Texas has more finance jobs but what is the average salary (significantly less am sure). If you want to make a lot of money, you go to where the money is for just about any industry.
@fairfieldnorth319There will be no MZ effect of any significance. Let them leave if they want who cares? They'll be right back because you can't quit NYC if you're from here or enjoy all it has to offer.
@fairfieldnorth319Mandami backed himself into a corner. All of his promises are dependent on higher taxes on the highest earners. If they leave, which many of them have and more will follow, the only people he’ll have left to tax are the people that are supposed to receive his promises “for free”. So many have already left NY. Citadel moved to Miami. JP Morgan opened offices in Dallas. It’s easy to change cities, especially today with zoom. High earners have all of the leverage and Mandami has none.
@zackwitterman5872It's gonna your day, Andrew! Cry louder...
@foodsubstantialWell of course these companies would rather hire people living in TX than in NYC - people in TX have a lower cost of living!
@SPacificana56% of a billion dollars is 560 million. They wouldn’t miss it and if they did, we need a revolution. They’re not going anywhere
@kyriedandrow6778Poor billionaires! They don’t get enough breaks.
@JD-lt7uvJamie Dimon just spent billions on a new office complex in midtown, and yet we're supposed to believe these people are going to leave over a tax rate that matches all our neighbors? Oh please, what a joke! They aren't going anywhere and everyone knows it.
@bartkoscinski9421trump has caused a JOBS RECESSION!!!! It is NOT AI yet.

NY is where millionaires continue to make millions. Why fled for getting taxed at peanut.
@gtrr3246Some won’t, some will.
@pbrown0829I am sorry but city of ny made the rich wealthy and rich did not make ny wealthy
@SprinklebestiesRich people in NYC got rich by robbing the middle class thru stock market manipulation…including pumping and dumping on CNBC
@MrMaguuuuuuuuuThe problem won't be the tax rate it will be the repricing of the RE
@RoyProvins-d9jRich people pay most of the taxes because they actually control most of the wealth. So it makes sense that they pay disproportionate amounts of taxes 😂
@Stoneface_No Andrew Billionaires are not living NYC, stop rage bating. You're only mad because a muslim anti israeli about to become a mayor.
@mjzalovalways worried about less than 5% of the citizens in the state. Apparently a 2% tax wil lmake them all run away hahaha
@teebone2157They will not leave NYC. These big fish would never live in a small pond.
