Written by the husband and wife team of Gerry Goffin (words) and Carole King (music) who lived across the street from me at 2625 Brown Street in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.
Will You Love Me Tomorrow and Soldier Boy,
both of which reached number one in the United States.

In 1996, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It was first recorded in 1960 by the Shirelles for their album Tonight's the Night; released as a single that November, it became the first song by a girl group to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has since been recorded by many other artists, including King on her 1971 album Tapestry.
