The Rise of Disney - How Disney Actually Makes Money
Video Overview & Insights
Disney's movie business is surprisingly not its most profitable division. Many people think Disney toys, action figures and merchandise may be most profitable, but this is not the case. Bob Iger is Disney's transformative CEO who has turned the company into a money machine with acquisitions including Pixar, Marvel Studios, Star Wars (Lucasfilm), and now 21st Century Fox.
Disney is a money printing machine, but surprisingly, most of the company's revenue doesn't come from its well known movie business. Let us know in the comments if you knew that and what you thought of the video. Will Disney's ESPN+ and Disney+ be successful? Let us know what you think.
With new assets under the Disney umbrella, Disney is looking at the world through a digital lens. With products such as Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN+ hitting the market, Disney will be a force to be reckoned with against competitors in the media streaming space.
#DisneyPlus #Disney #21stCenturyFox
Everything you said in the 1rst 20 seconds of this video is wrong. They have not been profitable, in any regard, for over a decade.
Someone hasn't been paying attention.

The Walt Disney Studios dominated box-office revenue starting in Q1 of 1987 with a record-breaking 40% share.
Disney's dominance is not anything new.

@jmundi2002Rename #DisneyPlus to #DisneyStream, please!
@derekbinelli9691Hey this was great, but can the video be updated to 2021, with 2020 revenue by new segments (to include streaming services)? Or maybe you want to wait until 2021 since 2020 was such a dud.... that actually would make a great video... how the segments looked before and after COVID.
@KevinThurmanI the amount of money they makin tho 😭

Today nothing show that Disney is realy Disney!!!!!!!
@MladenVassThis has been affected greatly thanks to the coronavirus 😂
@TempestelternaI'm just wondering when they're going to make the good old 2D cartoons they made in 80s and 90s again. I don't care for modern Disney. They are soulless.
@XorrakDisney must surely be thinking: Should have invested in online & streaming.
@imranmoonisSo where covid 19 will surely fuck Disney revenue hitting studio entertainment and parks & resorts the most this year, it's media networks business will soften the blow as people hunker down to consume more media indoors during isolation.
@imranmoonisDisneys blockbuster movies comes from characters that were mostly created in the past (except pixar), they may find success in generating revenue from the streaming service with all their content and may enjoy it for quite some time but they should never be complacent. Netflix is forced to do its originals because the content it licenses is being thretened by these cable companies who wanted to launch their own streaming services. Thus disney should create a new division focused on originals and have another division focused on how to reap the max benefits from the content they already have.
@csanton3946More Disney Stuff Please! Would like what Disney owns for marvel and what Televison Networks Disney owns and the details!
@chrisporto2622So Disney lost 30% of it's income when Covid hit!! Park Revene
@LCCWPresentsOk that face is terrifying 7:11
@MikazukiNomikoIt’s crazy to think Disney and Marvel we’re almost bankrupt a few decades ago and now they’re the most valuable brands. Gives hope to people struggling now.
@msoldateMany of Disney's movies have stage versions that have or continue to run on Broadway. Where does this fit into Disney's current operation? Didn't Disney rescue and refurbish the New Amsterdam Theatre in NYC?
@rayfridley6649Before: By taking risks and creating unique, beloved stories and characters.
Now: By absorbing properties and rehashing itself.
bob iger is the man
@westonsaunders4027Sell ESPN before it's worthless..ESPN and Sports teams should be owned by local entrepreneurs..ease off on Excess media Concentration..
@andreewert1142Maybe sell Media Networks to the US Government to create a Public Broadcaster and re-establish a counterweight to Private Media.
@andreewert1142Spin-off Media Networks..hold on to the rest..because of anti-trust considerations..
@andreewert1142Disney should be in Russia.. or India...or Brazil or Argentina.....lol
